Ive been sper busy lately with work and havent been able to follow up on anything on this...I got my game reserved at Gamestop...can someone help me out with one question: Is there a storymode to this game or is it all online free roaming?

InSpace - 1/11/2011, 10:09 AM
ChromedAngel@ Well there is a overacting story about branic and the future, but most of the time i's online free roaming doing a couple missions and they'll give you a story mission once in a while.

But seriously who is gonna get this?!

It costs $15 a month to play this, thats @180 a year. Everyone please dont buy this so in the coming years they will be forced to either lower the price or go free to play.

I'm buying it... I am such a rebel that-a-way, If you want something, pay for it, most of the MMORPGs that have become free in the past few years are because they are only partial complete games, and you have to pay to the rest. This game looks awesome, and I think that for about .50cents a day, it will be worth it.

15.00 a month is a little too much IMO...if its 10.00 then maybe. How much is the monthly fee for world of warcraft?

It makes me laugh when people complain about paying for MMOs... How many are STILL paying $15/month for their WoW accounts? :o)

I was waiting for my GameStop to open at ten am this morning to grab my pre ordered ps3 coppy early so I could spend a good hunk of my day playing. I HATE the PS3 but My computer won't run this... "Luckily" My family friend lent us his spare PS3 a few months back and is just fine with letting us use it. So for the first time I figgured I'd get use out of it. I begin set up at exactly 10:43 and at 2:15 I STILL COULD NOT GET THE GAME TO LAUNCH... So I deleted the game data and I'm starting from scratch. Words can't express how absolutely pissed off and dissapointed I am with this game right now. I will never play another playstation game for as long as I live. The system is a joke.

Don't like Monthly fee? Pay $200 now for a Lifetime sub. PS3 is cheaper from what I have seen.

I have it already. And guess what? After the 60 bucks for the game, it's been free. You MIGHT have to get Playstation Plus, but i already had that, and it's 50 bucks a year. I don't play PC games. So I couldnt tell you the price of that.

Here's the deal. You can pay an upfront $200 fee for lifetime subscription. That equates to approximately 3-4 new game titles.
That means if you buy one new game a month or every other month this game will have the same value as your normal gaming budget 4-8 months and it will never cost you another dime for updates (although I imagine expansion packs will require a purchase later down the road).
That means you get a persistently evolving game that you can play for a year or more. Yea the Pay to Play of MMO's is unpopular but you also have to take in the fact that in 3 years the company is still paying upkeep on equipment, staff, updates, expansion of original content, etc.
I don't fully agree with paying full retail ($50+) for a game and then paying a monthly fee but the lifetime subscription is really a great value. at $15/month it would run $180 anyhow so after 13 months you're saving money every month.
The bottom line is that MMOs will ALWAYS have a bottom line needed to pay for upkeep and companies want to be profitable. I remember the great gasps and irate rants of people when PS3 announced their new titles would probably run in the $60 range.

Nate, I agree completely. You can tell that those people have never put any time into one to see the quality of gaming your subscription gains you, the constant updating of new FREE game content and fixing bugs, the 24/7 support, the non-existence of cheaters/modders, an immense story and lore that is constantly moving and evolving. And lets not forget MMO's possess the largest, most diversified gaming environments of any genre and each server is populated with thousands of players all interacting seemlessly together. Then again I guess the countless people employed by these companies could work for peanuts in order to bring you the most in depth gaming experience you can get. Oh, and I have payed $15 a month for Warcraft for over 5 years now, and I don't intend on stopping anytime soon.

I encourage any of you curious about MMO's like this one and Warcraft to NOT listen to pissing and moaning of people who've OBVIOUSLY never played. I am a 5 year Warcraft veteranand I've no regrets about what I've spent to get that level of quality in gaming.

Cali, that's exactly it, people want everything for nearly nothing. MMO's are a whole level above typical console gaming in quality. CoD doesn't have hundreds of employees whose only job is to constantly maintain/update/care for the prodauct after release. They drop the new title, keep minor bugs taken care of (it takes them months to patch out glitches) and release new map packs and walk away. They barely maintain their [frick]in servers anymore after they get them up to par after launch. MMO's are constantly improving what they've done with a game, constantly! One of my favorite things about MMO's over any other form of gaming, MMO's don't have cheaters, those assholes running around with clipping hacks, Javelin Martyrdoms, lag switching type of horse shit. No 10th prestige lobbies or modded controllers. You win by skill, or you fail until you get some skill in a good MMO.

I have actually never gone the MMO path other than D&D and LOTR simply because nothing every interested me enough to want to pay monthly fees. The two exceptions are now DCUO and Star Wars The Old Republic. I'm looking forward to jumping into DCUO next month (as I will have to save a little and am going to do the $200 lifetime) and actually RP in the DC Universe. I just don't see why so many people bash so many things simply because they don't like it. There are TONS of things in this world I don't agree with or like but I generally understand why someone else might and adopt a live and let live mentality. If you don't want to pay then don't get the game. It's not like anyone is forcing you to miss out or play it. Save up a little like me and most others and buy it or play something else?
Cali
Cali - 1/12/2011, 5:07 PM
And to ask a question that's actually deeper than debating price points, what is the gameplay and community like thus far? I'm hoping to be able to play casually and still advance at a half way decent rate. I'm a single dad, work, and go to school full time so an hour or two a day but more likely a few hours on the weekends is about all I can dedicate at the moment to playing games.
