Well, Lewis Tan ain't playing Scorpion!
The cast of New Line's upcoming
Mortal Kombat reboot is really starting to fill out, with two classic villainous characters from the original video game the latest to join the fray.
According to
Variety, Chin Han (
The Dark Knight, Skyscraper) will play evil shape-shifter Shang Tsung, and Hiroyuki Sanada (
The Wolverine, Avengers: Endgame) will suit-up as undead ninja Scorpion. They join previously announced cast members
Joe Taslim (Sub Zero), Mehcad Brooks (Jax) and Ludi Lin (Liu Lang),
Jessica McNamee (Sonya) and Josh Lawson (Kano).
As previously mentioned,
Iron Fist actor Lewis Tan has also been cast in an undisclosed role.
Plot details on the new movie remain a mystery for now, but it's assumed that it'll follow the basic premise of the original video game: a group of warriors assemble to compete in a tournament to protect the Earth from the demonic forces of Outworld.
Mortal Kombat is set to commence production in South Australia later this year, and will slice its way into theaters on March 5, 2021.
