Many, including myself, have hoped that Rocksteady would be making another entry into their Arkham series, but sadly, its looking like that will not be the case.
Despite this, Rocksteady has a record performance with their Warner Brother related products, and with multiple people “leaking” many different games that rocksteady could be currently working on, its getting hard to see which ones are actually true and which isn’t.
Games that have been supposedly leaked include Warner Brother adaptations such as a Superman game, a Justice League game, and a Harry Potter game. Recently, rumors and supposed insider leaks were spoken about in November that Rocksteady would be instead be making a Matrix video game after their conclusion to their famous Batman Arkham series.
Given that Warner Brothers, The Wachowski Directors, and the main cast of the original film series all confirming that work into a film reboot and/or sequel to the series is underway… One has to wonder if Rocksteady is planning to work with Warner Brothers again, and help reboot the famous franchise with a AAA game either leading up to or following the release of the film reboot or sequel.

We know for a fact that Rocksteady confirmed that gamers “will lose their minds on their next project.”

With that said, the Matrix is definitely one franchise that specific statement holds some value and truth in.
Initially, many were thrilled over the thought of Rocksteady heading this direction due to that over the last decade or so, many fans have requested that Rocksteady or Warner Brothers make a new Matrix game, and with both studios current interests in reviving and/or adapting Warner Brother properties, it’s not to crazy that Rocksteady’s take on a refreshed Matrix game could do the franchise some good.
The hope was though, if the rumors were true, then the perfect time to announcement the next Rocksteady game would be at the Game Awards this year. But with that event now over, and nothing from Rocksteady was revealed or Warner Brothers (not even a note on which franchise they’re working on), one has to wonder if any of those leaks was in fact credible at all.
Despite the leaks originating from Reddit and 4Chan, including very specific information on the details of the story and gameplay, something interesting happened as many of those original leaks have been wiped from those original upload sites. It could be just coincidence that they were deleted, but if the game was in fact still in development, then it makes sense to remove all traces before the announcement. Still, whether or not the truth of those leaks are true or not. Since leaks are usually only forcibly removed from their original source if there is any form of credibility to them.
While many Rocksteady employees and fans denied such rumors, the official twitter account for Rocksteady may have provided additional details hidden within the post to prove that the Matrix is indeed the project they are working on.
Posted below is the Twitter post itself:
If you read the post, Rocksteady clearly showcases 166 people in their branded employee shirts.
The date that Rocksteady was created is instead November 8, 2004, but the date that they posted their anniversary is NOT on November 8th, yet instead is on December 14th, 2018, which could be a mistake, but another crucial piece of evidence is that the 14th anniversary isn’t all that special to companies, as many usually celebrate the 1st, 5, 10th, and 15th anniversary instead of the 14th.
Even more weirder is the twitter account saying that they have 166 employees. If you look closely, one of those developers in the photo isn’t wearing a branded employee shirt. Instead he is holding it in front of him. So why would Rocksteady post a 14th anniversary date with that specific number of developers a whole month after their actual 14th anniversary?
Most Matrix lore fans will know that the robot execution of B1-66ER featured in the AniMatrix anime anthology series is one of the major factors that led up to humanities defeat and the creation of the Matrix. So yes, if you compare B1-66ER and that 1 interesting developer out of 166 in the Twitter image, it is just another interesting piece in the possible Matrix Rocksteady puzzle.
Additionally, If you subtract 1 digit from 166, giving you 165, you can reveal another piece of Matrix evidence, as 165 is exactly 165 months from the original launch of the Matrix Online MMO video game to the actual Twitter post itself.
Here is how you can confirm this…
The MMO Matrix game was officially released on April 15th, 2005.
Since you count the months from the December 14th, 2018 back to April 15th, 2005, you get 165 months, then add an additional 1 day to the Date. There is the 166, 165, 14, and 1 reference again.
You probably know just how significant the word “ONE” is in Matrix lore. So if you make all these connections to the evidence above, plus acknowledge that the main film character Neo (played by Keanu Reeves) is canonically known as the ONE; then those numbers while mysteriously mentioned so many times in that twitter post, may be actual legit proof and evidence that Rocksteady is indeed working on a Matrix game.
Time will tell if Rocksteady is in fact working on it, but one thing is for sure, companies like Rocksteady don’t post weird questionable things on Twitter for nothing, so hopefully we’ll learn more soon. Until then, what do you think of a Matrix Game produced by Rocksteady? Do you believe that they are the right studio, or would you prefer their crew to make another DC Comic or WB related game?
Update: Many have commented that this article is too bogus but please understand some details regarding the articles intention.
All I’m saying in this article is The Matrix is all about finding the hidden knowledge beneath the systems code. In the canon of The Matrix franchise, many people believe it’s completely bonkers that their world was a simulation. But like Neo chasing the white rabbit, What better way to tease a Matrix game then to provide that “are you crazy?” clues within ordinary information.
We know Rocksteady loves to provide clues to their next projects in unique ways, so while this may be a pretty big reach, I’m not confirming anything, instead I’m just pointing out the evidence that some may deem crazy but could be true later on. Who knows what Rocksteady is actually working on, but the mystery of finding out that answer is just really interesting.
For the record, I’m not a Alex Jones follower, nor am I on drugs. And YES I do go outside multiple times on a daily basis.
