Full Length Trailer And Featurette For TOMB RAIDER Features Plenty Of New Footage And Story Details

Video game movies have a bad reputation and it's not hard to see why. Last year, gamers pinned their hopes on Warcraft and Assassin's Creed finally breaking the curse but both were a disappointment and now all eyes are on Tomb Raider to deliver. On the surface, it certainly looks like it could as the reboot boasts an impressive cast, some very cool visuals, and...well, a rather generic looking story it seems!

Starring Alicia Vikander as the titular hero and Walton Goggins as the movie's villain, Tomb Raider could be a fun ride and the launch of a new franchise; after all, the Angelina Jolie version got a sequel!

Also below is a new featurette which sheds some light on Vikander's transformation into Lara Croft. It also provides some additional details about what we should expect here and it's clear that the Oscar-winner is excited about stepping into the boots of this beloved video game icon. What do you guys think of this new look at Tomb Raider? As always, share your thoughts in the comments section.

They should have relased this full trailer first, not the shortened version of it.

@mgeoff88 - they both sucked. looks like a straight to video movie and not a good one.

@grif - I'll be honest, I was expecting more and something different with Tomb Raider. It looks like they made the tone of the movie more lighthearted to appeal to the general audience, instead of sticking with the grittiness of the 2013 rebooted game. Like, I was hoping the tone would be more along the lines of The Revenant or something:

Expecting it to be fine, nothing more. Hope it proves me wrong, but my eyes are on the uncharted film when it comes to video game movies, and the metal gear film.

God why I'm so fixated on/annoyed by Daniel Wu saying "death is not anghGHH adventure"

Well, that's an actual trailer. Still positive towards this, within my personal boundaries of possible excitement for a video game movie. The "fate of the world" thing still bugs me, but I'm not totally against adding some more 'classic Tomb Raider'-ish exploration and puzzling to the reboot game's story. And the cast is still just damn nice!

@Kyos - Lol the second i heard fate of the world i kinda rolled my eyes. How about a small scale personal adventure, and work your way up to the end of the world stuff.

Although better than the first one, still... this did nothing for me.
And that whole "fate of the world" thing is just...too much, man.

Gotta say, i'm actually more worried about that Uncharted movie...

Well f*ck me, after reading the comments, it's like i'm just repeating stuff, someone even mentioned the Uncharted movie! :P
High five to @AbidNaga!

Lara Croft...

And this gives me the same vibe as when I was watching Assassin's Creed or The Mummy trailers. Looks like movie will suck, unfortunately.

@KIDCOM - I just saw the Mummy. I still can't believe how bad it was. They couldn't decide if they wanted it to be a horror or a comedy.

Let me post this in the appropriate place...
Oh, boy. Looks like another bad video game movie. 0:05 looks like CGI or something. It's not right. The music is wrong and stupid. The last shot in the gun store is stupid. The explosion at 0:45 looks cheap, like SyFy Channel cheap. They look like they've taken exact playable areas from the first rebooted game, but this doesn't look as good.

I have quite literally finished playing Rise of the Tomb Raider and this trailer seems to have the same vibe and tone of the game. Yep, I’ll be going to see this one.

Lol can't take seriously after she jumps about 50 feet horizontally off that boat. And everytime she jumps a ridiculous distance after that.

Pretty good trailer, but still feels generic to me. I don't know what the audience draw for this will be. I'm hard=pressed to see which demographics are gonna go to theaters for this.
