Movie tie-in video games aren't exactly known as great quality games, and while the leaked teaser trailer for the latest Spider-Man game from Activision and developer Beenox presented an intriguing story, it left a tad bit to be desired in the graphics department.

It turns out that the teaser trailer we've seen yesterday wasn't for the next generation video games PS4 and X-Box One, but this one below is:

It's almost like the graphics have been intentionally made worse than The Amazing Spider-Man's first game so as to trick people into thinking the PS4 and X-Box One versions are more impressive.

The trailer looks a great deal like the game tie-in for the first The Amazing Spider-Man film. The 'Hero or Menace' system could be very interesting and I find the Kraven trainment aspect quite intriguing, so the official teaser trailer for this actually gave me some hope that this will be the very first next generation game that I will own. There are three monts to go, and while history taught me to never trust movie tie-in games, it's a Spider-Man game and I'm a sucker for them, here is me hoping that Beenox will go out with a bang and best out PS2's Spider-Man 2, it can't be that hard.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game should be arriving on every console imaginable in time for the second movie's May 2 release, but for now, here it's Sergei 'Kraven' Kravinoff's character bio and some brand new screenshots:

And you, what do you think of the official teaser trailer with next gen graphics? Make sure to sound off in the comments session below.

The Amazing Spider-Man is back! This spring, take control of Peter Parker in an all-new adventure: use your strength, speed, and cunning to take on new foes and even greater challenges. The stakes are higher than ever... Are you ready to return to Manhattan?

@ALmight

I was underwhelmed by the trailer that I saw last night as well. This one though is the official one, while from last night it was a leaked one with current generation graphics. I'll agree with MrBlackJack, this looks pretty damn good actually. I'm not fond of movie tie-in games, and while I had a quick playing TASM1, it sort of got repetitive and too easy to websling. I hope that TASM2 will have next gen graphics like what we've seen in this latest trailer and a great combat and websling system.

Beenox doesn't inspire me confidence as well, but this game can be the dealbreaker for me if I'll go with a next-gen console or not, I'm still rooting they can pull it off.

I don't care about the graphics. All I want is a good Spidey game with good graphics. This looks to be just that.

Kraven looks like an ass why did they make him look like a modern version of the dude from Jumanji?

There's literally no difference. The graphics for the first game were just as good.

This is going to be your first next gen game? That's too bad.

Well, at least the first one was a fairly good time. It's just too bad it's being bogged down by the unnecessarily limited and boring movie universe where Oscorp is some mutant villain factory that every character is shoehorned into.

I agree that it looks stiff and plasticky and awkward, though. Activision really seem to churn their licensed properties out on the cheap-est possible. Even with something like High Moon's recent Transformers games - where you can see the game making competence just below the surface - it really looks pretty rough around the edges. Here's hoping Marvel/Disney's recent license recall ushers in an era of higher budget super hero games made by hand picked teams. I suppose the similarly reclaimed Star Wars license will give us an idea.

I have just two requests. Get rid of the automated web slinging, and please limit the amount of predator missions. He isnt Batman, he can literally dodge point blank gunshots, he doesn't need those. Give an awesome dodge/counter system and you'll have the perfect combat for Spider-man.

I will say that the automated swinging was conceptually sound if the fighting remained technical and challenging in outdoor areas. Actually being able to swing and point the camera in a different direction at the same time SHOULD have made encounters thrilling in gameplay terms as well as visually.

InFamous employs a similar mechanic where you gravitate towards grip points and platforms, just so you can fully engage with enemies using the typical third person shooter controls. Amazing Spidey, however, was just cripplingly simplistic in every regard. Probably so ANYONE COULD BE SPIDEY WEEEEE!*

*dummies could play, too.

The trailer looked like more of the same to me: same awful web-swinging mechanic, I didn't see any new combat animations, and I'm not overly impressed with the graphics... I'll keep an open mind, but I'm worried that they didn't take into consideration ANY of the faults of the first game...

The web-swinging mechanics are new. They might re-use animations for parts of it but you do now have full control over your swinging. Webs do attach to buildings/structures. You guys should get up-to-date and stop complaining about automatic web-swinging.

Well, it's safe to say Steven Blum voices Kraven.
