They give good reasoning for them and Branaugh not coming back. After 2 epic comic movies, I can see them feeling burned out and maybe Branaugh had the same reason for not coming back or he got to fulfill his dream and he doesn't need to prove that he can do a sequel. I just hope Don Payne doesn't go completely off the map and screw up the script (we all remember the Fantastic Four). Finding a director to follow Branaugh's probably going to be a challenge. In individual comic storylines and miniseries' writers and artists can change issue to issue, film franchises are the same way. In any event, we still have Captain America and the Avengers coming.

Man, they were doing really good 'till they just had to say the term "funny-books"... then I tuned them out, mostly.

But it's sort of interesting that they did agree with mostly everyone saying that the love-story-earth-bound Thor felt stunted, even though the acting was pretty solid in the whole movie.
They sure have a lot to be grateful to Brannagh and the cast, because that script sure had a lot that could've gone horribly wrong (and almost did). Their contribution and that of others who worked on this script was actually the weakest point on an otherwise really great flick.
But they did pretty good all around this summer.

It's a shame Ken isn't coming back, but i think he's left one hell of a set up for a sequel, the characters are solid, people who have been complaining about it not having enough action will get that in the sequel. Ken came in and dealt with the Grandure of Gods, Man out of Place and set up a love interest. Now the Hammer can be thrown down for real.

I actually was not impressed with ken's directing. While I thought the movie was good, most of it seemed forgetable. Like anything that happened in scene one, didn't matter in scene two. And the locations in the movie were clearly designed for a movie, I mean, that was one of the fakest looking towns. They needed a cityscape. Where they could do more damage and have more people. Downtown Albequerque would've been good enough, even without highrising buildings.

I still really enjoyed Thor and I think it WAS because the writing was good. Xmen was better than Thor IMO, with a more diverse cast they had more to work on in character developement. Which is all writers are really supposed to be doing.
