Some of you on here may remember my 1st editorial. In it, I came down with a very sharp toungued response to the enthusiam over the trailer X-Men: First Class. I have not changed my views on that stewing pile of crap, and I am here to revisit the issue.
First a response to some of your overall comments from that article. I apologize for the tone I took. I probably could have thought out what I was going to say better. Every one on here is entitled to their opinion, and if you all go to see First Class, well that is entirely up to you. My boycott idea was in no way a demand, but a suggestion and only because a lot you guys seemed to have pretty negative feelings about the movies leading up to it. But again whether or not you guys go see it is your deal.
In my opinion, First Class looks an insult to comic book fans. It may be a good movie sure, but a good X-Men movie, no. To me, it is only justifying the destruction of the franchise that came before it. I mean look at all the crap they are shoving in there. It is not the original first class. And how can you possibly explain Emma Frost being a grown woman in First Class which is set in the 1960's and then a mere teenager in X-men Origins: Wolverine which takes place in 1980's.
That brings me to another point. Wolverine's last outing was crap. Completely. When Darren Aronofsky was picked to helm the follow up film titled The Wolverine, I was happy. I've never seen one of his movies, but I am aware of the subject matter he handles in a lot of them. The Wolverine seemed like it would have been awesome.
And then FOX messed it up. Oh sure Aronofsky said he did not want to be away from his family for too long while in Japan, but I think there were other reasons why he left. FOX was not going to let him make The Wolverine the way he wanted to make it. So away he went.
And that is why i sit here tonight typing this angry editorial. Because I know First Class will be horrible. But then, we could have had The Wolverine to save the franchise. Not any more though. FOX will still put it out, but it will be a rush job, and I will surprised if a good director can force FOX to let them follow their vision.
One last thing. I have decided to see First Class. Yes I know I have ranted about how crappy it will be, but I will see it under one condition. And that is that I will use a gift card. The only money im paying in the theater that day is at the concessions stand.
