New X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Concept Art Showcases A More Comic-Accurate Look For Storm
Though Storm's movie costume was clearly influenced by her comic book duds anyway, this artwork reveals that her outfit could have been much more faithful to the character's classic "punk" look...
Yesterday's Jean Grey concept art confirmed that a more comic-faithful costume was being considered for the character in X-Men: Apocalypse at one point, and now we have this alternate Storm design from Philip Boutte Jr., which showcases an outfit reminiscent of Ororo's classic Uncanny X-Men clobber.
This piece doesn't appear to have been modeled on Alexandra Shipp, but if - like the Elle Fanning/Jean art - the subject was another actress that was in the running for the role (only Zendaya was ever rumored as far as we know), we're not sure who it could be. Any ideas?
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be available on DVD and Blu-ray from October 4.
UPDATE: Turns out the actress is actually Maisie Richardson-Sellers, who will play the New Vixen on Legends of Tomorrow in season 2. Does this mean she was originally up for the part of Storm?
