Coming off Oscar contender The Post and the upcoming Ready Player One book-to-movie adaptation, director Steven Spielberg has reportedly begun searching for his next project(s).

According to Deadline's sources, the legendary director is eyeing a new Indiana Jones. Although Spielberg's camp offered no comment on his plans, it was revealed back in 2015 that he originally eyed Jurassic World star Chris Pratt to be "a central part of the franchise relaunch," alongside Harrison Ford. Disney currently owns the rights to the Indiana Jones franchise, which they obtained back in 2012 alongside Star Wars when they acquired Lucasfilm. Disney has currently slotted a new Indy film for July 10, 2020.

In addition to directing a new Indiana Jones, Steven Spielberg is also said to be eyeing his "dream project," a new version of West Side Story. Tony Kushner, who is a frequent collaborator with Spielberg, is reportedly working on the script.

In the meantime, Spielberg fans can check out his latest work as The Post is currently in theaters. Ready Player One hits theaters March 30, 2018.

There should only be one more Indiana Jones film. I think 5 is a good number to finish on.

Also, the Indiana Jones series is probably the best movie series of all time. The only real competition is Star Wars and The Dark Knight trilogy.

@Nightwing1015 -

Back to the Future
Lord of the Rings
Bond
Harry Potter (some might argue, not I)
Jurassic Park
Alien
Marvel Cinematic Universe

There are loads of comparable quality.

@FASELI - I've never seen Back to the Future

Lord of the Rings is good but very long. Also, the villains aren't very good. The Hobbit films make the series less good.

Bond is good but it's not consistently great. There are tons of bad films in the series as well as good ones.

Harry Potter is just average.

Never seen Jurassic Park or Alien. I know some Alien sequels were pretty unpopular though.

The MCU is a franchise, not an individual series.

@Nightwing1015 - An Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was total garbage! Many people think Temple of Doom was terrible. There are good and bad in most every series so it sounds like you're attempting to pass off your opinion as fact.

When I hear Indiana Jones recast all I see is Chris Pratt.

Na I think that’s it..... the last one was not an Indiana Jones movie. He’s too old and I don’t want it recast either. Let it be.

Pratts ‘Indy’ would definitely be the Roger Moore to Fords Sean Connery ‘Indy’.
