Coming off Oscar contender The Post and the upcoming Ready Player One book-to-movie adaptation, director Steven Spielberg has reportedly begun searching for his next project(s).

According to Deadline's sources, the legendary director is eyeing a new Indiana Jones. Although Spielberg's camp offered no comment on his plans, it was revealed back in 2015 that he originally eyed Jurassic World star Chris Pratt to be "a central part of the franchise relaunch," alongside Harrison Ford. Disney currently owns the rights to the Indiana Jones franchise, which they obtained back in 2012 alongside Star Wars when they acquired Lucasfilm. Disney has currently slotted a new Indy film for July 10, 2020.

In addition to directing a new Indiana Jones, Steven Spielberg is also said to be eyeing his "dream project," a new version of West Side Story. Tony Kushner, who is a frequent collaborator with Spielberg, is reportedly working on the script.

In the meantime, Spielberg fans can check out his latest work as The Post is currently in theaters. Ready Player One hits theaters March 30, 2018.

They better, Harrison isn't getting any younger.

There should only be one more Indiana Jones film. I think 5 is a good number to finish on.

Also, the Indiana Jones series is probably the best movie series of all time. The only real competition is Star Wars and The Dark Knight trilogy.

@Nightwing1015 -

Back to the Future
Lord of the Rings
Bond
Harry Potter (some might argue, not I)
Jurassic Park
Alien
Marvel Cinematic Universe

There are loads of comparable quality.

@FASELI - I've never seen Back to the Future

Lord of the Rings is good but very long. Also, the villains aren't very good. The Hobbit films make the series less good.

Bond is good but it's not consistently great. There are tons of bad films in the series as well as good ones.

Harry Potter is just average.

Never seen Jurassic Park or Alien. I know some Alien sequels were pretty unpopular though.

The MCU is a franchise, not an individual series.

@Nightwing1015 - An Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was total garbage! Many people think Temple of Doom was terrible. There are good and bad in most every series so it sounds like you're attempting to pass off your opinion as fact.

@Nightwing1015 - Indiana Jones literally has nothing on those series @FASELI just mentioned. Even Star Wars doesn’t have much on those.

@SuperManes - I never tried to pass it off as fact. When people discuss movies they're obviously talking about their opinion.

I've seen people trashing Indy 4 in the comments as well. I'm disappointed to see that because I thought it was a decent film. The critics liked it too; it got 70-80% on Rotten Tomatoes. I thought the film nicely reversed the premise of Crusade where Indy was struggling with his relationship with his father. Conversely, in Kingdom, Indy is struggling with his relationship with his son.

@Nightwing1015 - What do you mean you've never seen Back to the Future!!!!!!!!

@Nightwing1015 - you have not watched Back to the future, Jurassic Park, or any Alien movie... but you want to say which series is the greatest of all time? I suppose if you haven’t watched most of them, it does narrow down the decision.

@ElCidJedi - Lol yeah it does. But to be honest those franchises aren't really considered the greatest of all time. The Alien franchise has some really low ratings on IMDB with the original being the highest rated. It's the same story with Jurassic Park. I really should watch Back to the Future though.

@Nightwing1015 - Practical effects this time, NO CG JUNGLES. And I'm fine with Indy having a kid but recast. I want zero Shia LaBoob in this

@boiling - It's not that funny. It's just a difference of opinion. I'm not shitting on the films mentioned; I think most of them are great. I just prefer the Indiana Jones series and was pointing out the minor flaws of the others.

But HP is just average. The books are far better than the films.

@Nightwing1015 - Ya it’s ok I love Indiana Jones, my second fav franchise after Star Wars. But dude, go watch BttF, JP and Alien u totally miss out!!!

Comparing books with film is like comparing eggs with apples. It’s a totally different medium, like the movies are an interpretation of the books‘ story so you have to differentiate.

@Nightwing1015 - make up your own mind mate! Shit on those „critics“ platforms man, they talking bs! ‚Aliens‘ is one of the greatest SF flicks of all times aye! Same with JP, this movie paved the way for todays special effects tremendously. U totally miss out mate!
