Moon Knight: Marvel's Batman?

Is Moon Knight Marvel's version of Batman?

Moon Knight is one of my favorite Marvel heroes, but he has never gotten the kind of respect that he deserves. When you mention Moon Knight to a lot of comic book fans, you will more than likely hear them say,"Eh, he's just a ripoff of Batman," at first glance, that seems true but there are MAJOR differences.

Both Bruce Wayne and Marc Spector have the mansions, butlers, and dual identities with lots of cool crime fighting gadgets, but that is pretty much the comparison ends. Bruce Wayne grew up with money and used that money to fight crime. Marc Spector was a mercenary and killed people for money, died and was brought back to life by the moon god,Konshu and fights crime in his name. Oh, he also suffers from multiple personality disorder.

Now, let's talk about whether he should appear in movies or on television. I think he is one of the few characters that I think could work well in either medium. I would love to see him start out on television though. If Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. show is a hit, I would like to see Marvel launch a show that features characters like Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, Moon Knight and others.

Is Moon Knight Marvel's version of Batman? I don't think so, but share your thoughts in the usual place.

I love batman to death but I hate when people ask who is Marvels Batman. How come fans can never say who is DC Spider-Man or DC Iron man. Batman is its own character. Other Heroes have traits like him, but you will never get a Batman from Marvel, IC, or DH.

Finally someone agrees with me! I love Moon Knight. He is one of my favorite superheroes of all time. On the surface he definitely has a few similarities to Batman. I find him to be a much more complex character aswell as a grittier hero than Batman. Moon Knight would make a badass tv show if done properly. Providing that the network doesn't water down the tone and the core material. If the Green Arrow works on tv than Moon Knight would be a no brainer. Ultimately I would love to see a big screen adaption but I don't know if Marvel would spend the time, money and effort to bring him to life. One day us Moon Knight fans will get what we want. Great write up! Thanks for posting an article on Moon Knight.

There is no need to ask these questions, all characters are completely unique like ordinary human beings. We just seem to enjoy comparisons.

Anyone who ignores the fact that Moon Knight draws heavily from Batman is kidding themselves.

He has a theme, they both use fear as a means to fight enemies (Batman uses the shadows while MK takes the direct approach and scares his enemies by letting them see the ass-kicking they are about to receive), both have an array of gadgets and weaponry designed to look like their theme's emblems, both have flying vehicles shaped like their emblems, both have elderly butlers that help them.

If you had to answer this question, Moon Knight is the obvious answer. However, Bruce Wayne is much closer to Stark than Mark Spectre.

Basically, if you could put Tony Stark inside the Moon Knight costume, then you would have Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Eh, there's no "basically" here. It's a lot more complicated. Marc/Steven/Jake don't always see eye to eye with things.

MK is just a swagger jacker. Yeah the style is the same, but once you dig alittle below the surface the similarities disapear. I love MK but the differences from the bat are very appearent was you actually start reading.

I've said it here before. Night Thrasher is the most blatent batman rip off there is. His rich parents died in front of him as a young child. He is raised by a old servant. Trained his young life away to fight crime. Tons of money and gadgets. Adopted a teenage sidekick(rage). Hell one of his rouges is a guy that uses drugs to amp his strength and reduce pain (tantrum). I love NT, but he has always been a black batman rip off.
