Showrunner Caroline Dries revealed today that Batwoman has officially been canceled by The CW, after three seasons and fifty-one episodes.

She wrote, “Just got the sad news that Batwoman will not be seeing an S4. I am bummed, but full of gratitude. What an honor to make 51 episodes. So many inspiring, brilliant people contributed to this series. Thank you producers, cast and crew. Thank you, fans! We love you.

The series launched in 2019 with Ruby Rose in the title role as Kate Kane, but she infamously departed the show after one season. For the second and third seasons, Javicia Leslie took over as leading lady, portraying Ryan Wilder.

The supporting cast consisted of Rachel Skarsten as Alice, Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore, Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton, Camrus Johnson as Luke Fox/Batwing, Elizabeth Anweis as Catherine Hamilton-Kane, Dougray Scott as Jacob Kane, Victoria Cartagena as Renee Montoya, Robin Givens as Jada Jet, and Nick Creegan as Marquist Jet.

All three seasons of Batwoman are currently streaming on HBO Max.

As for what comes next for The CW's DC lineup, both Superman & Lois and The Flash have already been renewed for new seasons, with the latter coming back for what could be its last go-round. A new season of Stargirl is also slated to arrive this summer.

With those three safe, all eyes are solely on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, which wrapped its seventh season with a massive cliffhanger, and is currently on the bubble. While we would've previously assumed the network would give the Legends some sort of farewell tour, regardless of ratings, the Discovery merger has made things considerably more complicated and it's hard to say whether the new owners will be as keen on keeping the Waverider around.

The network is also currently developing a Gotham Knights series, which may now be a longshot to get picked up, especially after today's news.

I watched most of the Arrowverse shows through to Crisis (and some further) but this show was unwatchable. Barely got through the first 6 episodes or so. Torture. It should have been killed a long time ago.

Yes! Get rid of ALL of these DC properties on TV and the remnant of the DCEU (except Henry Cavill, Margot Robbie and Viola Davis) on film. Focus on making robust film properties! Leverage your most successful property and build an epic shared DC universe that can rival Marvel. The focus on grounded films is a first good step. Now plan out a dozen years in advance and connect them all.
