RUMOR: Wesley Snipes Set To Return As BLADE In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

We don't have too much to go on here, but a new rumor is claiming that our original big-screen Blade, Wesley Snipes, is set to reprise the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe...

"Some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill…"

1998's Blade and its first sequel are still held in very high regard (Blade: Trinity, not so much), and many fans of the Marvel Comics character feel that Wesley Snipes' iconic take on the titular vampire/vampire-slayer will be hard to top in the upcoming reboot.

Every few years, a new rumor that Snipes might be set to reprise the role does the rounds, but when the news broke that Marvel Studios was developing a new movie with Mahershala Ali taking over as the Daywalker, Snipes donning the shades and sword combo again began to seem highly unlikely.

However, we're now hearing that Snipes will return as Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point.

According to Daniel Richtman, the New Jack City star will reprise his role as Blade in the Multiverse Saga, and has "already signed to do some stuff there."

We don't have any more to go on for now, but if this is accurate, the most likely projects for Snipes to appear in would either be this summer's Deadpool and Wolverine (which we already know is set to feature a number of Variants) or Avengers: Secret Wars - unless the Blade reboot also includes some Multiverse elements.

When asked about the possibility of suiting-up as Blade again in a 2022 interview with ComicBook.com, Snipes said the following.

"Never say never. Long as I'm healthy and in shape, I can rock with them. Yeah, as far as my predictions on if something like that happened in future, I don't know. I don't know. It seems to me if it would've happened, it would've happened already. But hey, never say never. No, [Marvel Studios has not approached me] as of yet. I'm still working on my acting skills. So when I come up as an actor, maybe they'll reach out and say, 'Let's have a conversation,' or maybe they don't feel I'm ensemble player."

What do you make of this rumor? Would you like to see Wesley Snipes as the Daywalker in the MCU? Drop us a comment down below.

"A half-mortal, half-immortal is out to avenge his mother's death and rid the world of vampires. The modern-day technologically advanced vampires he is going after are in search of his special blood type needed to summon an evil god who plays a key role in their plan to execute the human race."

@ObserverIO - thanks man. It was an ischemic stroke. Thankfully my thought processes and motor function are in tact. But I have double vision and vertigo, so it’s been a challenge (especially since my job involves a lot of reading and writing).

I’m trying to balance practice and rest, since it’s a mix of retraining the eyes and letting the brain rest and heal.

@ObserverIO - Děkuji (Thank you).

I just got back from a 40 min walk from the office. It was like walking drunk with a cane, but I’ve taken this path a thousand times. I’ll definitely take it easier as I go.

Nope. Not gonna happen (unless it does, of course).

I hope that clears things up.

@Ryguy88 - people will be disappointed when its more of a wade wilson and logan movie than actual cameos like dr strange 2 cameos didnt meet hype expectations.

@supermanrex - I hope it does focus more on Logan and Wade. The cameos from old fox movies and possibly some bigger stars would just be icing on the cake.

I’d be very happy to see this version of the character again. It would be an amazing scene to see him along with Cage’s Ghost Rider.

I could see it being Secret Wars moreso then Deadpool vs Wolverine ( the latter seems like more like a homage of the Fox era and Snipe’s Blade Runner wasn’t a part of that).

If Mahershala’s Blade and the movie itself if/when it comes out is well received then it would be cool to see both of them fighting together on that.

@TheVisionary25 - My thinking is all bar a few of the 'cameos' in D&W will be a character we know taking the place of what normaly would be an anonymous goon hidden under body armor to be dispatched and/or background appearances. Little more than Storm Troopers in useage, just ones that look like versions of characters from prior films and in some cases the original cast if up to doing so without demanding a high fee (thus in some cases could be a lookalike stuntman or hidden under the characters prosthetics and makeup)...

...They wouldn't bring in Snipes for something like that, you bring in Wesley for lines of dialogue and some degree or narrative purpose not a body for D&W to slice and dice in a single action scene.

It’s funny because every article Josh writes about DP&W has that little paragraph at the bottom where he lists Wesley Snipes as a rumoured cameo. So is this a pointless article reporting on a rumour made a long time ago, or was Josh just making up that bit he puts in his articles?

(Also I know Josh didn’t write this, just pointing it out)
