In a very odd move Disney released this new trailer, but really it is just a clip from the film. The scene is based around a competition to win the right to get in on with the protagonist ... oh I mean marry her. The winner of the competition is judged based on their skills with the bow. Enjoy!

Synopsis - Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.

Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.

Brave is directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and the film features voices from such stars as: Kelly Macdonald, Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Julie Walters, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson and Robbie Coltrane. The film will be released in theaters June 22nd.

Why is there a need for Scottish accent in almost every animation movie ?

If predictability was a qualifier for awards, I'm afraid too many great movies would have to be tossed out. It's not always what happens, it's how it is presented.

...I liked the music.

Looked good to me too, Pixar's original ideas have always been good, except Cars 2 of course.

Very Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.

Looks good but can't say I'm overly excited.

The joy of Pixar is their protagonists aren't human, they're objects, creatures or beings of extraordinary qualities, this seems to deviate from the norm into more Dreamworks territory.

That being said, I Pixar I trust

@CapA: lemme think... umm... maybe because it is set in Scotland? *facepalm*

@CapA

Scotland gave the world the Television, the phone, roads, penicillin, fridges, microwaves, the popularisation of the decimal point, Golf, the flush toilet, the bank of England and the Bank of France. Buick. The Enlightenment, and far far too many more to list.

They along with the English founded America, with nearly 40% of Americans having a Scottish ancestor/heritage.

They were Frances staunchest allies for centuries, the Declaration of Arbroath heavily influenced the American Declaration of Independance

Since Hollywood (America) is the pinnacle of movie-making, I think Americans like to see a diverse range of cultures and especially a Scottish or english (british) one as it touches at the heart strings and their heritage. Their spiritual home maybe.

yet, YOU, grudge their accent in a movie which is set in Scotland? Don't watch it then, why comment on it? Are your acist or just a douche? Last I checked the world was pretty big and varied in cultures and having different accents in films only makes sense as thats what real life is like.

Reminds me of that Dragon animation with Jay Baruchel and Gerard Butler.
Only without Dragons. ;)

Not bad anyway.

It looks to have some potential... I like they have a female main character, the story seems to be somewhat interesting...

Still for the most part it seems more like a Dreamworks cartoon than something the makers of Toy Story would do. Still I've liked some Dreamworks films, but they aren't quite the quality of Pixar films and it's sad that Pixar may be lowering their quality of films.

Still I'll watch it and hope I'm wrong.

@CapA... with Shrek it didnt make sense, it was just "the accent" that Mike Myers could do, When Chris Farley did the original voice-over there was no Scottish accent. At least in this film it makes sense. I always did think Shreks accent was out of place. Oh well, a bajillion dollars later who cares.

Goes to show you can't please everybody. The animation looks to be top-notch as always, but now we'll have a story with some teeth, a strong female lead character, a great long-ago setting, and there'll always be folks who won't like it. If it's not your cup of joe, so be it. Still, it's on my list of "Gotta See" this summer.
