ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA Gets Its Trippiest Poster Yet Thanks To Artist Matt Ferguson

Poster artist Matt Ferguson has finally revealed his take on Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, and things get seriously trippy as Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror looms overhead. Check it out here...

By JoshWilding - Feb 10, 2023 10:02 AM EST

Artist Matt Ferguson regularly creates posters for Marvel Studios movies, so we're very pleased to see that he's been enlisted for this month's Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania

Taking us to the Quantum Realm, the poster shows Kang the Conqueror hovering above Chronopolis as Ant-Man, The Wasp, and Cassie Lang all appear to fracture before our very eyes. Trailers for the threequel have shown Scott Lang split in two and surrounded by what may or may not be his many Variants, and we're guessing that's down to the time-traveller.

During a recent interview with Lifehacker, Jonathan Majors shared his hopes to one day share the screen with Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark/Iron Man.

"It’d be really interesting to see those two kind of come together and have a bit of conversation," he teased.

That might just end up happening, but for now, you can take a closer look at Ferguson's awesome Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania poster below.

Fon-RH0-RX0-AA7i3-F

In Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Together, with Hope’s parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.

Directed by Peyton Reed, the threequel also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O'Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz, and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to be released in theaters on February 17.

Why can't all CBM posters look that good? Is it too much to ask to get posters that don't look like a 14 year old's first time in Photoshop?

@FilmGuy7878 - Matt Ferguson's work is always great. He's been doing Marvel posters since Phase 1, too. Even had a variant steelbook run that was supposed to be for all films but only ended up doing 4. Ant-Man coincidentally being one of them along with Civil War and the first two Avengers.

@FilmGuy7878 - Well that's the thing. There are plenty of great posters out there for these movies, it's just they're these alternate posters. Apparently, studio data has shown that people like generic floating heads on their main theatrical one sheets. It's too bad, but oh well.

One cool visual aspect of this sequel is antman looking like an ant among the larger quantum universe structures.

The idea of Kang towering over everyone is nice, but all the Ant-Man and Wasp just copy/pasted and slightly rotated is cringe and mirroring most of it feels lazy.

OT - Finally watched BP2 last night on Disney+. Easily the best Phase 4 movie. Had some small gripes, but the performances were on point, no needless silly humor, and the changes to the Atlantians and Namor were neat.

Outside of some wonky CGI, about 15-20 minutes that could have been trimmed, and the absolutely nonsensical decision to fight the ocean people in the ocean at the end, it was well done.

Boseman was definitely missed, but man Leticia Wright really stepped up. Shuri was somewhat annoying in the first one, but I’d be open to seeing a lot more of her going forward. Angela Basset killed it. Huerta was a bit inconsistent in acting, but I overall liked his Namor (and the story behind the name was cool).

Hopefully Ant Man 3 can be good too to help get the MCU back on track.

What if the real reason all those Loki's were pruned is because Loki is the one true threat to a Kang variant? Their abilities and powers are ever growing and as Classic Loki showed us. They are a lot more powerful than they realise. And He Who Remains allowed the events of Endgame to happen because it guaranteed the return of 616 Loki who is the one who will save the Multiverse. Loki and arguably Ultron have been the only villains who was sought out "more" and that's a problem for a Kang. So if they pruned every Loki in their timelines that means they fear a Loki. And perhaps that is why He Who Remains wanted Loki or Sylvie to protect the multiverse but they were too blind to see it.

@SonOfAGif - Interesting theory. I’m looking forward to Loki S2. Also if the rumor about Mobius being in Deadpool 3 is true, that show, and Loki himself, have to prove important going forward.

Sooo, by the end of this likely cliff hanger ending movie....

Who will die and/or who will be taken hostage by that dang Kang?

And will the rat that saved the universe in Endgame come back to save everyone at the end of Kang Dynasty?

StSteven
StSteven - 2/10/2023, 3:09 PM
@DocSpock - And since you brought up the rat, how come he hasn't been given a spot on the Avengers yet? I mean he did indirectly save half of the universe. He should at least get a cute little outfit and go on tour with Scott for his book signing or something. He can (and should) be Scott's little sidekick, "Ant-Rat" or something. And he should DEFINITELY get, if not his own room, at least a nice big cage at the Avengers compound with a running wheel and some tubes to crawl through, etc. And instead of tossing away their food scraps the other Avengers can dump them through a little chute into A-R's cage so they can be even MORE environmentally friendly than I'm sure they already are ("Saving the planet every way possible" can be their new slogan).

I mean, c'mon! And think of all the merchandise that Hasbro can turn out based on this little guy. This is a no brainer!

Holy sh!t! If you lived in Hollyweird, you would be the best damn screenwriter in the whole nuthouse.

StSteven
StSteven - 2/10/2023, 6:31 PM
@DocSpock - Well, hell, I'm just saying that if Disney can create a multi-year, multi-platform, multi-media, multi-(insert product here) based on "Go-Gurt" (or whatever that Yoda Mini-Me is called), they can sure as hell do it with Ant-Rat (no offense to Go-Pro or Miracle-Gro or whatever his name is - he's a cutie-pie). I'm just saying that there's a whole missed opportunity here.

I mean think about it dude: what do we really know about Ant-Rat? Not much. We don't know anything about his origin, his back story, or how he came to be the one to inadvertently save half of the known universe. Is he just a normal rat that happened to wander into the van, or is he some kind of enhanced rat, like "The Secret of Nymm" kind of rat? OR... is he a mutant? How did he know to step on that button? Was he in a Quantum Entanglement with Scott?!? We don't know and we need answers damn it!!!

Seriously, Marvel can do a whole comic series, a D+ show, you name it. They can do the more serious, hard core TV-MA D+ show for the adults ("Ant-Rat: Rat-tribution") but then the PG animated show for the kids.("Ant-Rat:Ratpy Birthday!").

Hell, if he becomes popular enough, they could even add a Ant-Rat attraction to the Marvel Avengers area in Disney World/ DisneyLand where the kids put on Mickey ears and crawl through a maze designed to look like Scott's Quantum van trying to be the first one to get to the button to save half of the universe. The possibilities are endless!!!!!

ROFL!! That Mighty Mouse guy is sooo gonna get his a$$ kicked by Ant-Rat.

Rat of destiny.

StSteven
StSteven - 2/10/2023, 10:16 PM
@DocSpock - Now wait - just WAIT - but what if - WHAT IF, Disney does a cross franchise deep-throat-reach-around-what-ever-the-hell-you-want-to-call-it crossover where the rat from "Ratatouille" was in fact the live action version of the rat that saved half of the universe? I mean, it would make perfect sense, right? He saved that restaurant, he does know how to take charge of a situation, and the argument could be made that he was the real hero of that movie. Jesus, it all makes sense... (insert last scene from "Usual Suspects" here).

DocSpock - 2/10/2023, 10:34 PM
@StSteven -

Now what we need to do is get Steve Buscemi to do the voice for Ant-Rat in the sure to be coming World War Hulk-Rat.

StSteven
StSteven - 2/11/2023, 1:08 PM
@DocSpock - OMG it's all starting to come together! Bruce, trying to rid himself of the Hulk once and for all attempts a dangerous experiment which (go course) goes wrong and in the last second, Ant-Rat, being the hero he is, jumps in the way of the gamma radiation beam taking the full blast which results in him becoming... the Insatiable Hulk-Rat (you wouldn't like him when he' hungry! Trash cans and dumpsters everywhere be afraid. Be VERY afraid!

My God, it's like I can hear the printers printing the money as we speak!

@DocSpock - Well, holy hell! I live in Dallas (Plano technically). I was born and raised in Chicago but moved down here for my Masters/PhD at UTD in 2006 and have ben here ever since.

Yeah, Shiner is good, but for me if I'm going all-in with Texas beers it's Revolver Blood and Honey. Dude, I could drink that shit all day long, however considering the calories and alcohol content (7% and 210 cal. per 12oz bottle) I usually save that for special occasions. But DAMN is that good stuff!

As I am currently drinking a Blue Moon Light Sky I will also say *salute!* to you as well good sir!
StSteven
StSteven - 2/12/2023, 12:02 AM
@DocSpock - Sure, sparks are going to fly between Hulk-Rat and Jezebel, (because based on what Any Lee did with those poodles I can only image what kind of physique Hulk-Rat would have, and what gerbil WOULDN'T want some of that action), but when Bruce tries to once again conduct his failed experiment when Ant-Rat jumped in the way of the gamma beam and Betty tries to talk him out of it and they struggle, but the beam fires off anyway, aimed directly at Betty! Oh no!!! BUT at the last second, Jezebel (inspired by Hulk-Rat's acts of heroism) leaps in front of the beam taking the full force and becoming... the Red Hulk-Jez!!!

Dude, I think that we're creating a team of Marvel super-pets that could kick the living shit out of the "DC Super Pets" (although I'm not trying to start a Marvel vs. DC thing here - jus' sayin'). Next up: the Wolverine who is an actual wolverine... ball's in your court 😉.

StSteven - 2/12/2023, 2:53 PM
@DocSpock - Okay, cool. In that case I can be more specific: I'm up in northwest Plano about 5 minutes from Stonebriar Center (at the intersection of 121 and DNT). Love it here. Everything we need is within 5 or 10 minutes away at the most. The grade school is a block and a half away and my wife and I WFH (even though our office building is about 7 minutes away). And Dallas itself is close enough that if we want to go do something fun like take the kids to the Zoo (or my personal favorite the Dallas World Aquarium), we can just drive down to the Parker Rd. train station and take the DART downtown.

I grew up in the far west Chicago suburbs (Aurora specifically (yes THAT Aurora from "Wayne's World")) and everything was so far away, like the nearest mall is 20-25 miles, and to take the train to downtown Chicago takes like an hour and 20 minutes. And here I have 6 or 7 malls within 20-25 minutes, if you want to go all the way out to North Park or the Galleria. Not that we do a whole lot of shopping these days with COVID still being a thing and more stuff to do at home than I have time for, but it's cool having so many options.

I mean, hell, a couple of years ago on the day after my birthday (which is St. Patrick's Day so I was kinda hung over) we went over to Stonebriar and did indoor skydiving at an iFly across from the mall. Never had that kind of stuff available as a kid. Gotta love it 😊.
StSteven
StSteven - 2/12/2023, 2:57 PM
@DocSpock - Well from what I understand that Wolverine has been around for a while, so I would imagine that a lot of people have a history with him. Personally, I'm not as worried about that Wolverine, the Porcupine, on the other hand, eeesh... that guy you have to handle with kid gloves. Literally. Don't ask my how I know, I just do. And there may have been a lot of tequila involved. Really GOOD tequila...
StSteven
StSteven - 2/12/2023, 3:16 PM
@DocSpock - I used to drink hard alcohol a lot more when I was in college and up until we had kids basically, but then I relegated it just to holidays and special occasions, mostly because the taste of (good) alcohol doesn't bother me, so I can drink beer like water and hard alcohol like beer, which can lead to me overdoing it if I'm not paying attention to how much I'm drinking and at what rate. Especially with really top top shelf, which is all I buy these days. That stuff is usually so smooth I'll finish a glass of scotch on the rocks in no time and then it's like "Sure I'll have another one" and so on and THEN it catches up with me.

So I usually go to my "Total Wine and More" store (also 5 minutes away) and get a really nice scotch and some Rev. B&H for Christmas/New Year's Eve and a really nice Irish whiskey for my birthday (along with some Guiness of course), and usually I don't finish the bottles because I'll only have like 3 drinks along with the beer, so by now I've amassed a pretty impressive collection of high-end liquors for my bar. I have some that I haven't even opened that I bought just because I wanted to add them to my collection (like the nicer Johnny walkers).

Probably my favorite, although it's been hard to find at my local TW&M for the last couple of years, is a 21-year Glenfiddich. It's around $250/bottle these days but worth every penny 😉.

So cheers indeed!

I am glad you guys like it here. My wife & I have no desire to ever live anywhere else. Her family all live in Highland Park & University Park. We used to eat & shop at Northpark quite often until covid killed that.

If you like Chinese food, I highly recommend Royal China. I have been eating there for 48 years.

@StSteven -

My favorite Scot whiskey is The Macallan 20 yr old.
Second is Glenfiddich. When we were in Scotland 16 years ago, we toured 7 or 8 distilleries in the North park of the country.

But I HATE blended Scotch. It all tastes like it was strained through Grannie's sweat socks.

@DocSpock - Ah, got one up on ya with the Chinese food, as my wife IS Chinese. We met in grad school at UTD when we were both doing our PhDs in Comp. Sci. Here research lab was next to mine and she came over one night to borrow my class notes for an AI class, and I haven't been able to get rid of her since 😉.

These days she doesn't really cook a whole lot of Chinese food from scratch being as we get most of our food from Trader Joe's, BUT her parents emigrated to the US back in 2016 when we had our first kid and they lived with us for 7 long LONG months until they got their own town house also about 5 minutes away, so I can have authentic Chinese food from them whenever I want it.

In fact for everyone's birthday and Chinese New Year they always make "lucky noodles" and my wife usually goes to their place for lunch during the week and brings back other dishes that they make. The only thing is that they can't drive and there aren't any Chinese grocery stores within walking distance (and they're still scared of COVID anyway), so they've had to adapt their food a bit to what my wife can get for them from Tom Thumb or Sprouts or whatever. There is a Chinese grocery store close by (Ranch 99) in the Stonebriar area, but they're too expensive, so they make do with what they have. Naturally, however, when they came over from China they brought like 2 lifetime's worth of dried spices and other special ingredients so they're in good shape (I seriously have an entire shelf in my pantry full of Chinese-I-don't-know-what stuff.

Oh, and yes I've been to China, specifically in 2009 while we were both still in school. My wife flew back to visit with her family (she's from Tianjin), and I followed a week and a half later on my own. So overall I was there for close to a month. Took the bullet train to Beijing, went to the Forbidden City, had DUCK (and even eel).

Funny story about that whole trip (and I'll try to not be very explicit): obviously, they're a pretty conservative culture, particularly about the "no sex before marriage" thing (my wife, not so much as she was pretty "Americanized" before she got here to do her grad work in 2007). So her parents knew that we were dating, but not that we were, ya know (in fact I had to sleep in a separate room by myself when I was there). BUT... here's the thing: it seems that the jet lag caused by the trip over can cause a... "disruption to certain normally scheduled bodily functions" that could make it appear as if a woman were pregnant even if she isn't. SO picture this: I arrive there after she's already been there for a week and a half planning on asking her dad's permission to marry her and THAT it what I walk into. So the next thing you know we're all taking a bus down to the hospital to get her tested for pregnancy (which was negative). This all sounds like a movie starring Ashton Kutcher. Surprisingly enough, her dad still gave me his blessing and I proposed to her in Tokyo a couple of months later (we were there for a conference).

Anyhow, I'm still dealing with the aftermath of that nasty snow/ice storm we just had so I gotta split. Take care man. Nice talking with you! 😊
