Idris Elba Confirms 'Heimdall' And Tom Hiddleston 'LOKI' In AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Following reports that Tom Hiddleston will return as Loki in both Avengers: Infinity War movies, which has since been removed from the source, now comes word that we'll see the God of Mischief sooner; even before he appears in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok. During an interview with The Telegraph, actor Idris Elba, who plays the Asgardian gatekeeper Heimdall in the Thor movies, expressed strong thoughts about his Marvel commitments and seemingly confirmed his and Hiddleston's inclusion in next year's Avengers: Age of Ultron. “Ironically, yesterday I had to…” Elba stopped, while discussing his professional commitments, before revealing: “I’m in Avengers, and I’m doing a scene with Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, and they’re like, [whispers] – ‘Aren’t you [meant to be] in Ibiza?’ ” Ibiza Rocks House is a superclub where Idris Elba has been DJing/hosting. The English actor had apparently filmed his Age of Ultron scenes right after the clubbing gig. “That’s why I was p----- about my set yesterday. I really just wasn’t there. I was annoyed.”

Later during the interview, Idris Elba had recalled a torturous experience while  filming a certain scene for Thor: The Dark World... after he was asked did it take him a while to shake off his role as the great Mandela. “It was really weird,” he said. “I’d just done eight months in South Africa. I came to England and the day I came back I had to do reshoots on Thor 2. And in the actual scene my hair was different, my…” He stops and sighs. “I was like, ‘This is torture, man. I don’t want to do this.’ My agent said: ‘You have to, it’s part of the deal.’ ” In the Dark World scene he's referring to, “I’m actually falling down from a spaceship, so they had to put me in harness in this green-screen studio. And in between takes I was stuck there, fake hair stuck on to my head with glue, this f------ helmet, while they reset. And I’m thinking: ‘24 hours ago, I was Mandela’. When I walked into the set the extras called me Madiba. I was literally walking in this man’s boots. [Within] six months, the crew, we were all so in love with this film we had made. I was him. I was Mandela, practically.” He continued, “Then there I was, in this stupid harness, with this wig and this sword and these contact lenses. It ripped my heart out.”

Marvel Studios presents Avengers: Age of Ultron, the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure. Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision. Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963. Get set for an action-packed thrill ride when The Avengers return in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1, 2015.

Seems like the helmets [frick] with all of them...I know it gets sickening, but I'd really love Thor to have his helmet on in AoU, or at least Thor 3, even just one [frick]ing scene....

LOL. Elba is already filled up with being Heimdall.

Sometimes actors don't realize taking a certain part means dressing up in attire you think is corny or stupid. It can't all be Nelson Mandela type roles.

Wait, so Loki is Loki in AoU?

I'm confused.

In that APU clip they say Thor goes looking for answers on what vision Scarlet Witch showed him. I like how he universe is befouling more cohesive. We're geting more cameos and pop ins. Wish Elba had a bigger role or was a cast as a better character. Hope his role in Ragnarok is huge.

Take his comments within context, geezus, one quote and...

...he just worked a long time on Madela and had to come back for reshoots, sure any actor would bitch about that, ha,ha...

I'm not tired of Loki either. People don't realize he's the binding force between the Avengers and the cosmic part of the MCU. He has a greater part to play in the overall scheme of things for this universe.

batz11 - 11/2/2014, 6:09 AM
For those sick of Loki, here's his response...

I for one would love an entire movie centered on Loki and his 'mischief'...think he could easily carry his own flic..would have loved a solo movie of his before Thor: Ragnarok...
AstonishingArachnid
AstonishingArachnid - 11/2/2014, 6:10 AM
So basically when a villian dies you all get up in arms and whine about under utilisation. But when he's used your sick of him? Loki is a main character in the world of Thor. It's like saying that they should get rid of Lex Luthor. He's a main adversary for Superman but also a big part of the DC universe, just like Loki.
kinghulk
kinghulk - 11/2/2014, 6:10 AM
im guessing it will either be thor's vision thanks to scarlet witch or an after credits scene. also i just though is that scene in the trailer when thor is on his knees shirtless perhaps his vision, he could be falling to the floor in grief at the sight of a asgard in ruins.

Maybe: Civil War, Inhumans, or Thanos?

Man i'm so proud that Idris Elba will be in Age of Ultron. Seriously, Heimdall is one of my favorite characters in the MCU and Idris Elba is an incredible actor which is why i've always wanted to see more from his character in the Thor films and disliked the idea of having his roles be small.

I'm just so excited to see Heimdall in AOU.
