Ebony Maw Captures Doctor Strange
Ebony Maw (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor) quickly proved himself to be the most formidable member of the Black Order as he bested the combined efforts of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), Wong (Benedict Wong), and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) to capture Strange and take him to Titan.
The Deadly Ebony Maw
Compared to the other three members of the Black Order, Ebony Maw (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor) was easily the most fleshed out and his loyalty to Thanos (Josh Brolin) never wavered as he did his best to rip the Time Stone from Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). Unfortuntately, his plans blew up in his face when Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) stowed away aboard his ship.
Spider-Man Hangs On To Earth
Everyone's favorite friendly neighborhood wall-crawler, Spider-Man (Tom Holland), does his best to keep Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) - and the battle - on Earth, but his resistance proves to be futile. He then finds himself on an intergalactic adventure with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.).
Iron Man Blasts Off
With Spider-Man (Tom Holland) heading off into space, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) takes it to another level as he attempts to reach the ship before it gets too far up and Peter falls to his death. He also has to save his new frenemy Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) from Ebony Maw (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor)'s torture.
Meet Proxima Midnight
Proxima Midnight (Carrie Coon) arrives in Scotland to steal the Mind Stone from Vision (Paul Bettany). However, she runs into some unexpected opposition from the extremely powerful Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Carrie Coon shared details on how her experience on Infinity War differed from her past work on performing mo-cap for video games. "I’m much older now than I was then, so it was a very different experience. I was also pregnant when I did it. [Laughs] I flew down to Atlanta and did some mo-cap, mostly the facial capture. Of course, I can’t take credit for all of it — it’s a gifted team of animators that are taking on the bulk of that performance. But it morphed from a voiceover job into a mo-cap job, and then suddenly I realized I was in the highest-grossing movie of the year."
Scarlet Witch vs. Proxima Midnight
Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) is the first of the Secret Avengers to take a stand against the Black Order and here we see how her battle with Proxima Midnight (Carrie Coon) came together. The two shots prove to be especially impressive as we realize that Olsen (and/or her stunt double) wasn't exactly opposite anyone, making her job a tad more difficult.
Scarlet Witch Makes A Stand
Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) stands up to both Proxima Midnight (Carrie Coon) and Corvus Glaive (Michael James Shaw) as she attempts to save Vision (Paul Bettany) from certain death. Luckily, she doesn't have to hold them off much longer with the Sentinel of Liberty (Chris Evans) watching her six.
Proxima Midnight vs. Captain America
Captain America (Chris Evans) arrives on the scene and immediately engages Proxima Midnight (Carrie Coon), which catches her off guard as she likely didn't expect to face such a formidable human. She ultimately loses the battle here, but later returns during the Battle of Wakanda with some monstrous reinforcements.
Falcon Arrives On The Scene
Falcon (Anthony Mackie) provides aerial support for Captain America (Chris Evans) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) as the trio engage Proxima Midnight (Carrie Coon) and Corvus Glaive (Michael James Shaw). He also gets in a few good blows as the team bring down two members of the Black Oder fairly easily.
Corvus Glaive & Proxima Midnight Narrowly Escape
After a major ass-kicking at the hands of Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Falcon (Anthony Mackie), both Corvus Glaive (Michael James Shaw) and Proxima Midnight (Carrie Coon) are forced to retreat. Nat also delivers the trailer line, "We don't want to kill you, but we will," which, in hindsight, they probably should've done here to save time down the line.
Welcome to Knowhere
Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) arrive on Knowhere to retrieve the Soul Stone, but they soon find themselves in a terrible situation as they discover Thanos (Josh Brolin).
Destruction on Knowhere
After Thanos (Josh Brolin) lifts the veil of the Reality Stone, we see that Knowhere has already been brought to its knees. The Collector's (Benicio del Toro) true status remains a little unclear, but it's more likely than not that he's met his end at the hands - or, well, foot - of the Mad Titan.
Vision vs. Corvus Glaive
Vision (Paul Bettany) is easily one of the strongest Avengers, but he gets seriously sidelined throughout the film after getting stabbed multiple times by Corvus Glaive (Michael James Shaw), who seeks to retrieve the Mind Stone for Thanos (Josh Brolin). Here we see the villain land another critical blow, but he's in for a rude awakening with Captain America (Chris Evans) swiftly approaching.
Captain America Saves Vision
Captain America (Chris Evans) arrives just in the nick of time to save Vision (Paul Bettany) Corvus Glaive (Michael James Shaw). However, while the duo are successful in stopping Corvus, with Vision even landing the fatal blow, no one is able to stop Thanos (Josh Brolin).
Doctor Strange
After a solid introduction two years ago, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) returns with a big role in Avengers: Infinity War and proves vital in the battle on Titan. However, after seeing over 14 million possible outcomes of their battle against Thanos (Josh Brolin), he voluntarily hands over the Time Stone in order to save Tony (Robert Downey Jr.) from certain death.
Spidey-Sense
While Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming more or less glossed over one of Spider-Man's (Tom Holland) trademark abilities, the Russo Brothers have now definitively confirmed that young Peter Parker does have the ability to sense danger.
The presence of his Spider-Sense also makes the buildup to his heartbreaking death all that more devastating as he was likely the only person in the universe to feel what was coming long before it got to him, which is almost exactly what happens when Thanos' snaps his fingers in the comics.
Mantis Turns Into Ribbons
In a scene more or less directly ripped from the comics, we see Thanos (Josh Brolin) use the Reality Stone to turn Mantis (Pom Klementieff) into ribbons. Luckily, she does manage to survive this encounter, but unfortunately, her luck runs out before the credits roll.
Chris Pratt has already confirmed that both he and Klementieff will both return to film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 next year, so her death is probably not be as permanent as we may think, but it'll still be interesting to see how exactly they manage to bring her - and half the universe - back to the land of the living.
Iron Man
After more or less playing the antagonist role in Captain America: Civil War and the mentor part in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) returns to full-fledged hero mode in Avengers: Infinity War.
Tony has one of the best arcs in the film as he starts the film by expressing his desire to have a kid to Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow) and then he gets an opportunity to prove himself as a surrogate father to Peter Parker (Tom Holland), but all of his hopes are shattered when he's unable to do anything to save Peter from Thanos' (Josh Brolin) snap.
The Bleeding Edge Armor
Iron Man Armor: Mark L, better known as the Bleeding Edge Armor, which sees Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) utilize nanotechnology to suit up. The armor can also repair itself if it's sustained too much damage, but unfortunately, not even that is enough when Thanos (Josh Brolin) lands blow after blow, leaving most of the armor in ruins.
I Hope They Remember You
While Thanos (Josh Brolin) proved to be a more than worthy adversary from start-to-finish, he did get dangerously close to being defeated on Titan, although thanks to a poorly timed intervention from Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), the Mad Titan managed to get the upper hand yet again. He proceeded to lay waste to all of the Avengers and Guardians and wrapped things up by delivering a seemingly fatal blow to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), which surely elicited some gasps from the audience.
We know by now that Thanos (Josh Brolin) already has four of the six Infinity Stones during the battle on Titan, but the second shot shows us how VFX experts managed to conceal that fact in the two trailers and many tv spots. In addition to the Power and Space Stones, he also has the Reality and Soul Stones when he delivers a beat down to the combined forces of the Avengers and Guardians.
Dread It. Run From It. Destiny Still Arrives.
Bringing Thanos (Josh Brolin) to life so convincingly will likely go down as one of the most incredible things Marvel Studios has ever been able to accomplish, which is really saying a lot considering everything they've done for the superhero genre over the past decade..
