AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Secures China Release Date; Plus Check Out The Official Chinese Poster
Marvel's highly-anticipated upcoming blockbuster, Avengers: Infinity War, has secured a prime China release date and we also have another awesome new international poster. Come take a look!
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War has been confirmed for a release in China. It will open in the Middle Kingdom, it's second-largest box office market, on May 11, which is two weeks after its domestic debut on April 27.
The slight delay, which can likely be attributed to the Chinese Labor Day taking place on April 30-May 1, all but assures that the third Avengers film will not become the largest worldwide opener of all-time as it will prove increasingly difficult to top The Fate of the Furious' massive $541.9 worldwide debut without China in its opening frame.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe tends to do pretty well in China, especially with these blockbuster Avengers films as The Avengers grossed over $86.3 million there in 2012 and 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron brought in over $240.1 million there in 2015. Captain America: Civil War ($180.7M), Iron Man 3 ($121.2M), Spider-Man: Homecoming ($116.2M), Thor: Ragnarok ($112.2M), Black Panther ($103.1M), and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($100.6M) have also been strong performers.
Plus, in addition to yesterday's Japanese poster, Marvel has now released the official Chinese theatrical poster for the film, featuring Earth's Mightiest Heroes gearing up for the fight of a lifetime. Check it out below:
