MARVEL'S AVENGERS: First Details For Square Enix's Mysterious Game Emerge From E3 Panel Description

Ahead of its highly anticipated E3 reveal, new details regarding Marvel's Avengers have leaked, teasing a cinematic storytelling experience with up to four-player co-op gameplay and customizable heroes.

As confirmed this past week, Marvel's Avengers — formerly referred to as "The Avengers Project" — will finally be properly revealed at E3. While Marvel's Avengers will be revealed during Square Enix's E3 Live broadcast, there will be a specific panel at the E3 Coliseum main stage which promises more information about the highly anticipated game.

Marvel's Avengers has been one of the most closely-guarded secrets of the past year-and-a-half with little information offered to the public since it was first teased back in December 2017. However, as we near its official reveal, it looks like details are starting to slip out. It seems a recently published schedule for the E3 Coliseum contained a more in-depth description for Marvel's Avengers, revealing some general gameplay details.

The description has since been updated to remove these details, but not before Reddit captured a screenshot of it. The original overview details a cinematic storytelling experience with both single-player and co-op support of up to four players. The description also teases the ability to customize your own superhero, which was sort of alluded to in the initial teaser trailer. Check out the original description from the E3 Coliseum below:

"Embrace your powers and join key members of the development team at Crystal Dynamics and the creative team at Marvel Games as they talk exclusively about the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers. This is the defining Avengers gaming experience: an epic action-adventure that combines cinematic storytelling with continuous single-player and co-operative gameplay. Moderated by Andrea Rene, assemble in teams up to four players, master extraordinary abilities, customize your heroes to fit your playstyle, and combine powers to defend an ever-expanding world under constant threat."

With this overview, Marvel's Avengers has begun to draw comparisons to other "Games as a Service," such as Destiny or The Division, which blend cinematic storytelling experiences with a co-op gameplay.

Here's the original synopsis when Marvel's Avengers was first announced as The Avengers Project:

The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.

Marvel's Avengers will officially be unveiled on June 10 at 6:00 p.m. PT during Square Enix Live E3 2019. The 30-minute E3 Coliseum panel with Crystal Dynamics and Marvel Games will be held on June 11 at 1:00 p.m. PT. No release date or platforms for Marvel's Avengers have been announced yet.

@CapnMurphy2021 - The first two were very special to me, but I'm definitely ready for something different.

@JamesPunn - x-men legends (rise of apocalypse) and Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2 were awesome for the time (or... they were cool because that’s all we had really)... but, yes... something new would be nice.
