Disney is in the process of acquiring 21st Century Fox, a deal which finally will bring the X-Men and Fantastic Four into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While everyone at Marvel Studios claims they haven't started thinking about what could happen with those characters, Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo seem very excited about being able to get their hands on them.
"We’ve had the best experience of our careers with Marvel," Joe revealed in a recent podcast interview. "We have a great working relationship with them and we love telling these stories. It’d really be a function of, what is the story, if we do stick around. Certainly it’s enticing when you have all these Fox characters about to show up. It’s an incredibly complex universe to keep building out."
Anthony was quick to point out that nothing is happening with those characters in the MCU right now and made it clear that everyone is waiting and seeing when it comes to how they could be incorporated into the world of The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. When talk turned to Secret Wars, though, Joe made it clear that he's a big fan and even collected those action figures as a child.
"That was a big comic for me as a kid," he revealed. "I had all of it. I think that was probably the most important book to me." When the interviewer noted that an adaptation of that tale would be a great place to introduce the X-Men and Fantastic Four, Joe added: "That's right. I like the way you think." Whether or not that will actually comes to pass remains to be seen but it would be very cool indeed.
