Jeremy Renner reveals to "The Hollywood Reporter" how he became Clint Barton/Hawkeye,as Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige talk how amazing Renner is as the SHIELD agent: Hawkeye.
Renner said:
The Avengers was the first BIG movie I signed on.It helped that Zak Penn was writing it because he is my friend. So I "assembled" with Joss and Kevin and Zak supported me,saying:Guys, you need hire Renner!
Kevin Feige said:
I had a general reunion with him when "Hurt Locker" was picking up the momentum. He had the guts to make action scenes and he had an knowledge level and agility that were very impressive.I could even tell him about the attachment points, that is where the cables attach your body when you're throwed trough the air.
Kevin even talks about that scene we saw on the latest trailer ,where Hawkeye is in the air and he trows an arrow at the camera, was a memorable sequence for Feige:
That was just him(Renner),no stunts. And it was unbelivable,It has its own big intensity and it's very centered.
Joss Whedon said:
He is an awesome fighter, his fighting work is amazing, accurate, heroic and doesn't need stunts. But one day it went bad and his body wasn't responding.I couldn't do nothing.I was very scary and we had to suspend that sequence and shoot it a few weeks later.
The Avenger premieres May 4th!
