Aaron Eckhart Confirms That Two-Face Will Not Return For The Dark Knight Rises!

The actor has revealed that director Chris Nolan has told him in no uncertain terms that the villain will NOT return for the third installment of the franchise...

"Chris and I had a meeting, on the beach, just the two of us. "I said, 'Chris, a lot of people are asking me if I'm in the next 'Batman.' And Chris said, 'Yes?' I said, 'Am I?' He looked at me and he said, 'No.'"

It's even weirder than I'm explaining it! We found ourselves alone on the beach together on a stormy day and he delivered the news to me,"
joked Eckhart. "I was heartbroken. But Chris has his reasons and my life must go on."

"Honestly, it was Heath's movie to go on. We had a great movie. I'm so honored to be a part of that movie. I know Chris has got something in store that is going to blow everybody away."

He was a fantastic Harvey Dent/Two-Face but there really is no need for him to return. For a start, his death is what causes Batman to be hunted by the police and it'll just be a hell of a lot more interesting to see the focus on new villains...although I cant deny that I'm sort of hoping Ras Al Ghul will be back. :P

Accodrindg to the THE DARK KNIGHT - Featuring production art and FULL SHOOTING SCRIPT, page 235:

DENT

I'm about to. Tell your son it's
going to be all right, Gordon.
Lie. Like I lied.

Gordon looks up. Pained. Locks eyes with his son.

GORDON

it's goind to be all right, son.

Dent FLIPS the coi. Hig. Dent's eyes FOLLOW the coin
up- Batman HURLS himself at Dent and the boy.

All three of them VANISH over the edger; A TERRIBLE CRASH-
then silence, but for the sound of DENT'S COIN, SPINNING on
the floor at the edge of the hole.

Gordon, horrified, RUNS to the edge- peers down-

his neck broken.
DEAD.

Moving on is always best IMO. No need to be milking one single solitary villain, especially since this is THE character that has the best ever Rogue gallery to offer.

Now, can we get a confirmation that there won't be anymore confirmation articles on Dent not returning?

Well said!

Most people on here can't see beyond the obvious in movies.... They just want action! They should just stick to watching Michael Bay movies in future.

Why are people using asperger's logic to convince the world Two Face is dead in Nolan's continuity.

For starters, canon can be changed in retrospect. In the theatrical version, we don't see Two Face decapitate or twisted unnaturally. so visually it's quite easy to accept that he isn't dead.

for second, it's a comic book movie. Nolan could bring Ra's al Ghul if he wanted.

Two Face's death was no more certain than Doc Ock's death in Spider-Man 2. And if memory serves there was a tiny reference in Spider-Man 3 that Doc Ock survived.

We've known this all along......Dent is dead and Batman told Gordon that he would take the blame for Harveys crime and death.

Cool. Eckhart was brillant in The Dark Knight, however the third one can be great without him. I'd love to see him appear in another comicbookmovie though. He's in Battle LA so we'll see how that turns out.

I wont believe this until I am sitting in the theater and the lights go up after this next one and I haven't seen Two Face. How epic would it be if they used mo-cap and cgi for his ENTIRE face this time and that is the reason for Nolan's "wierd" answer. You can also make the argument that Andy Serkis was not in the Fellowship of the Ring or the Two Towers due to the lack of his physical appearance. Until the words "Two-Face will not be in it" leave Nolan's mouth (Two-Face is NOT Harvey Dent!!! Harvey became Two-Face and the Harvey Gotham new DIED. All that is left of his existence is the villain Two-Face) or I've seen the film and I never saw Two-Face....I'm still a believer!!!

Eckhart for Two-Face!!!! I believe in Two-Face!!

Great find @Josh!....even if it is a lil' depressin, lol

Well, they should atleast mention Dent in the sequel. Aaron's character made a huge impact in the Dark knight, so not mentioning him would be a little weird.
