Batgirl is currently shooting in Glasgow, Scotland, and several photos from the set have found their way online over the past few days. Most were fairly unrevealing, but we did get a look at a mural featuring Batman and Robin, which could suggest that a version of the Boy Wonder will soon make his DCEU debut.
Now, THR reports that the HBO Max project has added three new cast members: Rebecca Front, Corey Johnson, and Ethan Kai. No details on any of their roles were provided, but there's already speculation that Kai might be playing Dick Grayson.
There's no real evidence to support this, but a rumor did recently do the rounds which claimed that Batgirl will set up a future Nightwing movie, and Kai certainly looks the part. The 27-year-old actor made his debut in British soap Emmerdale before going on to garner acclaim for West End debuts in Peter Shaffer’s Equus. He's also appeared in the likes of Killing Eve and London Kills.
Front is a BAFTA Award-winning actress who has appeared in Avenue 5, Poldark and The Other One. Johnson has had supporting roles in the Bourne franchise and The Mauritanian, and also has a part in the upcoming Morbius.
Batgirl will star Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon, J.K. Simmons as Jim Gordon, and Jacob Scipio and Brendan Fraser in undisclosed roles (the latter is believed to be playing the villainous Firefly). It's also been confirmed that Michael Keaton's Batman will appear.
Loki composer Natalie Holt recently announced that she's signed on to work on the movie's score, while Christina Hodson, who wrote Bumblebee and also worked on Birds of Prey and The Flash, penned the most recent draft of the script.
The HBO Max movie is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. No release date has been announced.
