Cameras are still rolling on Batgirl in Glasgow, Scotland, and while we know Doom Patrol star Brendan Fraser is set to suit up as the villainous Firefly, Jacob Scipio's role remains a mystery.
It was previously reported that he might be playing Killer Moth, especially as that assassin for hire crossed paths with Barbara Gordon in the Batgirl: Year One comic book. However, set photos showing Scipio playing what looked like a potential love interest to the hero seemingly contradicted this, so we're back to square one when it comes to not knowing who the actor has been cast as.
During a recent interview with PopSugar, Scipio was asked what DC Comics fans can expect from him in Batgirl. "Obviously, I have to pick my words quite carefully here because my tongue is pretty tied with it," he teased. "But I can say that my character is in the comics. He wants to make Gotham a better place. And he's in a situation with Batgirl. Let's just say that."
Based on these comments, perhaps Scipion is playing another of Gotham's heroic vigilantes?
Little is known about the movie, but following the events of The Flash, the DC Extended Universe's reality will be rewritten and Michael Keaton's Batman will be this world's new Dark Knight. He's set to swoop into the HBO Max movie, definitely in flashbacks (set photos have shown the Caped Crusader saving a young Barbara), and potentially as a mentor to Barbara/Batgirl.
Batgirl is expected to arrive on HBO Max this December.
