The first "chapter" of DC Studios' DCU slate was announced earlier today, and it included a Batman movie focusing on the exploits of an all-new Dark Knight and his son, Damian Wayne.
The Brave and the Bold isn't the only Bat-based project on the horizon, however, and Matt Reeves' highly anticipated The Batman sequel - now officially titled The Batman - Part II - was given an October 3, 2025 release date.
"Matt is working on [The Batman sequel]," confirmed James Gunn, "which also includes [The Penguin] series, and it is its own thing. He's hard at work on that. He came in and pitched us some amazing, really cool stuff the other day. So our plan is for that to continue."
While the sequel will be an "Elseworlds" story and not part of the main DCU, Peter Safran made it clear that the movie is "not a stepchild."
"It's all under DC, we are fully invested in the success of The Batman, just like we are everything else."
Reeves responded to the announcement with the following Tweet, describing The Batman - Part II as an "epic crime saga."
It sounds like Reeves might have plans in place for this story to continue well beyond just two films and some spin-off shows!
We still don't know what to expect from The Batman 2, but there's a decent chance Barry Keoghan will return as The Joker. Reeves has also indicated that The Penguin (Colin Farrell) will have a much bigger role as one of the main villains.
