Tickets for The Batman went on sale yesterday, and Fandango caught up with the movie's cast to get some insight into what fans can expect from this new take on the Caped Crusader.

It's a lengthy interview that's worth watching, but there are some particularly interesting comments from lead actor Robert Pattinson. After previously appearing somewhat hesitant to commit to any future appearances as the character, the actor was quick to share his enthusiasm for not just a sequel to The Batman, but an entire trilogy of movies.

"I'm down to do it as many times as people want to see it, really," Pattinson admitted. "Like I mean I got to get this one out first. But yeah, like, I mean I've talked to Matt about the idea of doing a trilogy and that would be wonderful. I really, really enjoyed the process and it's such a fun character to play. And yeah, that'd be lovely, lovely."

The actor also expressed interest in exploring Bruce Wayne's evolution into the "giant party boy" we know from the comic books, with co-star Zoe Kravitz adding, "Bruce is such a recluse in this film, to see Bruce evolve into the person that knows he has to perform and be on a yacht with some...that's a really fun journey to go on."

Pattison agreed with the Catwoman actress, joking: "And Alfred's like, you need to be Batman again. And he's like I'm at a party, I'm at fashion week!"

There are a lot of places Matt Reeves can take this iteration of Batman (we recently shared some predictions you can find by clicking here), so it's good to know Pattinson is interested in further exploring that. Moving forward, we could continue seeing what makes Bruce Wayne the World's Greatest Detective or explore different aspects of the character such as his dynamic with The Joker.

The Batman is set to be released in theaters on March 4.

I have yet to hear a thing about this movie I don't like, and now we're already talking trilogy?

Hoping to see Freeze and the Clayface(s) in the sequels

I really like Pattinson. Seems like such a chill dude.

Not surprised about the trilogy talk at this point. Any superhero movie that appears to be a hit with audiences will almost automatically get that treatment, or at a minimum such talk of a possible trilogy will begin.

I think we'll definitely get a trilogy.

The question is, would he stay for a fourth movie and beyond?

I never expected it for any hero other than the Avengers, but Thor and Spider-Man seem to have broken that wall.

@Waddles - Exactly this! Why limit yourselves to a trilogy? And I get that it's probably just an initial goal and if these movies are successful enough then they will continue. But a lot of times movies also get a reboot treatment when a main actor decides to move on. And I'm kind of against that. I'm a firm believer that the characters are bigger than the actors. They should recast and keep moving forward, because like you, I'm tired of reboots.

Every time we get a reboot we have to start all over again, and with Batman especially, it means we keep seeing the same most popular villains.

I think we all want the Court of Owls, but it got me thinking if it isn't too OP for a sequel of a beginning Bruce.

The Talons should be one of the most dangerous assassins, so maybe it would be better to put them in the last part of Batman's story to close his family¨'s corruption problems.

So put them into the second or third part, and the only thing more dangerous would seem to be the plot of Arkham Origins - some boss (probably Joker) would make a bounty on Batman, attracting the attention of the world's most dangerous and badass villains.

I'd really love to see a faithful adaptation of Azrael, Flamingo, and Clayface.

Clayface could be hard to adapt tho, because...

But one of his best powers is shapeshifting, which could be a big problem for Batman AND Bruce Wayne (being convicted for murder for example...).

Hopefully they'll go less-grounded for the sequels and more in line with the comicbooks, I feel like the whole grounded thing was already done to death with the Nolan movies tbh.

@Superspecialawesomeguy - I doubt they'll completely change tone like that though. I guess Iron Man was MORE grounded than what came after though so you never know...

Also it is not very clever to put an Arkham breakout in the second movie, as Batman didn't fill it up with ANY villains.

After this movie it could have only the Riddler, and that is not even a physical threat lol.

Eh. Let's see how the first one is before we start clamouring for more of whatever this is.

I knew Reeves was on to something when he was asked if he made any adjustments or tweaked the script to this movie during the long COVID-19 breaks between shoots and he replied in the negative

I would love to see Warner Brothers finally create a live action Batman series. One with a tone such as this. Then they could really flesh out this world. Guess it depends on Money. Did Game of thrones multiple seasons make less than one Batman film?

Bruce should be pretending to be a "giant party boy" since the first day he was back in Gotham after his years of training around the world, if he looks like a sad angry billionaire that is back in Gotham at the same time that some guy dressed like a bat begins a fighting crime career, it wouldn't be too hard to imagine who could be behind the mask/cowl.
