Director Christopher Nolan, the man who has singlehandedly revitalized a flagging Warner Bros. superhero franchise, has pointed the figure at Harvey Dent, to be played by Aaron Eckhart, as the man to which the storyline revolves.
In a quick chat with the LA Times, Nolan said, "Harvey Dent is a tragic figure, and his story is the backbone of this film."
As all respected Bat-fans know, Harvey Dent is more than just the District Attorney; he later becomes the twisted and disfigured Two Face. Played by Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever, we saw very little of the real Two Face. However with an entire movie dedicated to his life before the villainy, I’ve got supreme hopes that Nolan will once again deliver the goods.
As for the Joker? "The Joker, he sort of cuts through (The Dark Knight)," Nolan explained. "He's got no story arc; he's just a force of nature tearing through. Heath has given an amazing performance in the role, it's really extraordinary."
A long time ago we reported that special effects company Framestore CFC will be doing some work on Two Face’s face, in The Dark Knight. Now this essentially, to me at least, points to only one conclusion; that we will be seeing the transformation process.
Aficionados of the series will know that a vile of acid is what does the trick, at least in the comics. But regardless of how it happens, following the scarring it is just makeup; no special effects should be required. So as I said, it looks as if this movie will probably see Harvey Dent being rushed away, holding his face. Whether we will see Two Face by the end, or just one of those fantastic scenes which points to what is to come, I do not know. Either way, the 17th of July will see the Dark Knight hit the big screens again, and I just cannot wait.
