Routh and Bale out of Justice League

I reported yesterday regarding Christian Bale’s apparent lack of involvement with any Justice League movies that may or may not be in the pipeline. Bale was almost at a point where it seemed he was saying he did not want to be involved. Well it turns out he may have been on the right track after all.

Over at Moviehole.net a report has erupted on to the scene essentially confirming Bale’s theories. And while a Justice League movie is indeed on the fast track, with casting beginning immediately and shooting to begin early ’08, it looks as if neither Christian Bale nor Brandon Routh will be cast as their respective heroes.

However the source goes out of their way to ensure people that both actors are still on track to resume their characters roles in their individual movies. Director George Miller has been 100% confirmed as the director for the Justice League movie, and a whole new cast will be found to portray Superman, Batman, the Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and the Green Lantern.

This raises two questions in my mind, or, more to the point, two points. First of all, the logic behind the Batman casting does actually make an ounce of sense, once you consider that the renewed Batman series is starting from the beginning of Batman’s career, and the Justice League movie has to be well in to Batman’s career before it can be feasible.

Secondly, and this is my question, with Ryan Reynolds all but officially cast to play the Flash, will he receive the same treatment Bale and Routh are receiving, or will he indeed make his leap to a dedicated Flash movie as a result of the ensemble JLA movie?

Apparently IESB has leads that have suggested who might be up for certain key roles, so when they know, you’ll know. In the meantime, everyone keep their fingers crossed that they get David Boreanaz to play Hal Jordan, aka, the Green Lantern.
