BATMAN V SUPERMAN Producer Michael Uslan Reveals Bruce Wayne's Age In The Movie

Michael Uslan has served as an executive producer on the Batman movies since 1989, and seemingly reveals once and for all how old the Bruce Wayne played be Ben Affleck will be in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice 40s? 50s? 60s? Hit the jump to find out!

Michael Uslan served as an executive producer on Tim Burton's Batman and then each of the subsequent movies right through to Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy. Hhe will return in that role for 2016's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and spoke to app.com recently about the reaction to Ben Affleck being case as the Caped Crusader. "We’ve been through this I don’t know how many times already. Every time a director makes a creative, out-of-the-box-thinking decision on casting, it tends to get this. I remember even the ‘Iron Man’ (2008) guys got it on Robert Downey Jr. initially. Of course, we got it intensely when another genius, Chris Nolan, chose Heath Ledger to play the Joker (in 2008’s ‘The Dark Knight’). And it was a huge outcry: ‘How can a guy who just played a gay cowboy (in 2005’s ‘Brokeback Mountain’) play the Joker? You’re going to destroy the greatest villain ever, this is going to be a laugh.’ “So, this has happened time and again, and it happened with Affleck. To go back to the original thought of Bruce Wayne in his mid-40s, I think he’s going to be extraordinary."

This pretty much debunks those recent reports that Batman will be in his 50s, though many fans were already sceptical that the movie would portray Bruce Wayne at that age anyway (especially as Affleck doesn't look like a man of that age, grey templed be damned). Uslan makes a great point when it comes to the way the Argo star and director's casting was received, especially as those same people were likely just as doubtful about the other actors he mentions and more besides. I like having an old Bruce. Affleck actually looks really fitting as Wayne, which is a shock.

I'm fine with that, he'll be experienced as Batman but still have room to grow and change; he could be plagued by the fate of Robin (Jason Todd) or overcoming the divide between himself and Dick.
Plus I always viewed Batman in the old DC Animated Universe as being around that age and he was perfect.

Awesome. I guess he'll be as experienced as the one from the Arkham series.

He's in his early 40's but doesn't look a day beyond 35.
Except for his EYES which are OLD beyond his years. The eyes
of of WAR VETERAN who has seen TOO MANY HORRORS.

I'm starting to think more and more that the "fake" BVS Script isn't so fake...

Divide between him and Dick?
Sounds like Pasto.

I don't mind that he's in his mid-forties, at least for this movie, but my concerns are how they will handle Batman in the future, since by 2020 Batman will become too old. Maybe the next solo Batman film will be Batman Beyond?

I'm fine with this, they'd need like 25 seasons of a TV show to get to where he is now let alone in a cinematic universe, this way they can get to stuff like Red Hood, Nightwing and Drake as Robin.

I'd much rather have him this age than in his 20's or 30's, I hope we see a really experienced, almost "detective" angle to Batman in this film.

It'd be cool if they presented Batman's past in a way that makes him more mysterious the less you know. Keep the unknown as a way to build subplots for future movies, and set up for more possibilities between characters he may have encountered.

this could work in many ways, he Batman films could be flash backs, they could be tales, they could be current batman I mean he can go until he is 60 like in the comics and then retire so its safe to say we get maybe 2 batman films + Batman in Justice league and then we get Batman Beyond?

Agreed. Plus, Affleck already has that chiseled jaw sort of look, which is similar to the way Jim Lee drew him (see the artwork to Batman: Hush).

I have a feeling he'll be great in the role.

Affleck is quite possibly the best choice to portray Batman right now, so I can guarantee in 10 years when they (unfortunately) have to reboot AGAIN, we'll be having the exact same conversation when the next guy is cast.
Affleck's got this in the bag.

40 something isn't old, if you play your cards right.
I am 40 and I am stronger, tougher, and ten times meaner than I ever even thought about being when I was younger.

In a way I think that might be the reason they set him up as being that age.
