Despite a misleading date (January 20th) doing the rounds initially, we'd later learn that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever would actually premiere on Disney+ on February 1st, and Marvel Studios has now made it official with a new TV spot and key art.

The promo highlights several major moments from Ryan Coogler's sequel, including the powerful scene with Shuri unmasking as Wakanda's new protector as M'Baku proudly declares, "the Black Panther lives."

The poster, meanwhile, is basically just an updated version of a previous one-sheet, but this time Shuri is sporting her Panther costume.

The critically-acclaimed MCU sequel is still playing in theaters, and recently passed the $800 million mark at the global box office. While this is a very respectable haul - especially in post-Covid times - short of a re-release, the movie is highly unlikely to join its predecessor in the $1 billion club.

Even so, Wakanda Forever has broken another record. With a domestic cume of $429+ million, the film has passed the likes of Captain Marvel and the first Wonder Woman to become the highest-grossing female-led superhero movie in U.S. box office history.

In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livanalli.

I think it’s funny that “doing the rounds” is now a CBM euphemism for “bs rumors that we are repeating.”

This movie was so beautiful. The message behind it was probably the most powerful display of grief seen within the MCU. It's a shame that the only proper grief/closure we saw from Thor was in Endgame. Even No Way Home had a powerful message in the end when it came to grief and loss.

This movie had a powerful message.

@IMCOOLURNOT

1.) The movie was extremely tasetful in how it handled Chadwick's death and didn't exploit him in any sense.
2.) The movie addressed themes of unexpected death and grief in a very thoughtful way.

Just say you didn't watch the movie. I have problems with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever... but how they handled Chadwick's passing is not one of them. If you saw the movie you would know that.
