While Marvel Studios has yet to make it officially official, it's become apparent that Letitia Wright's Shuri is the new Black Panther in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
While M'Baku and Okoye emerged as potential candidates in the wake of Chadwick Boseman's death, it being Shuri who inherits the mantle always made the most sense. After all, that's what happened in the comic books! It's obviously come much sooner than anticipated in the MCU, but early word on the sequel suggests Wright does a great job.
Regardless, we now have a new poster for the Black Panther sequel that puts the hero front and centre. Illustrated by artist Matt Ferguson, it also features a tribute to T'Challa, the Dora Milaje, and the destructive power of Namor the Submariner.
Tenoch Huerta plays the mutant in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and looks every bit the villain his comic book counterpart is often portrayed as. What that means for his MCU future remains to be seen.
Check out this newly revealed poster below.
In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba) fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.
As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of Talokan, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena and Alex Livinalli.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, directed by Ryan Coogler, opens in theaters on November 11.
