If there really is any bad blood between Zack Snyder and Warner Bros., the filmmaker has no problem showing his support for one of the studio's upcoming DC Comics-based projects.

Though WB did ultimately decide to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut of Justice League in 2021, some believe there is still some ill feeling on both sides because of what went down when Snyder was in the process of directing the theatrical version of the movie that ended up being completed by Joss Whedon.

Last year, a trade report suggested that the studio actually regretted releasing Zack Snyder's Justice League on the HBO Max (which has since dropped the HBO) streaming service, because they felt it "only further entrenched" the director's fanbase against the WB leadership.

Regardless, Snyder clearly isn't overly bitter about anything that may have occurred, as he shared the following Tweet earlier today.

The Rebel Moon director says he's looking forward to taking his kids to see Jaime Reyes' first big-screen adventure, while sharing a pretty cool (possibly fan-made) new poster featuring the hero.

"Recent college grad Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduena) returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it," reads the synopsis. "As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab."

"When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armour capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle."

The cast also includes Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, and Raoul Max Trujillo.

Blue Beetle is set to be released in theaters on August 18, 2023.

Not sure he wants to push the whole 'representation matters' stuff on a box office bomb that's probably going to harm Latino actors. If a DC superhero movie with them is not successful then it'll discourage other studios. Perhaps it's better to just let this bomb without any fanfare so they limit the amount of articles. Perhaps announce the Batman casting alongside the release of this disaster so it takes away some attention.

@Scarilian - Blue Beetle failing won't be because it has a Latino lead, it'll be because it has the DC logo on it. These 2 letters are poison to any movie that carries them outside of Batman, regardless of the lead's ethnicity or gender. Studios are smart enough to realize this.

True, but corporate people will look at the reasons this did not perform well and the only differences are a lack of established star power due to the the focus on lesser known Latino actors and the lesser known nature of the character.

@Th3Batman - All that matters is the bottom line and the tunnel vision studio heads will say, "this movie may have bombed because is has the DC brand on it, but look....the primary cast was Latino."

Then shortly thereafter they can look at Haunted Mansion and say, "Look the primary cast was black"

Then they can look at Barbie and Oppenheimer and say, "Look the primary casts are white"

And some may deduce....Black and Latino movies aren't selling.
@Scarilian does have a point.

@TyrantBossMedia - Didn't we see this same thing g happening with the guy that was the head of Marvel TV? He didn't want to cast people of color in roles because he claimed they didn't earn for the project?

I think what you and Scarillian makes sense. There are definitely studio execs out there that think like this.

@CorndogBurglar - I don't recall Joesph Loeb saying that, but there definitely are studio execs that think that way.
Hollywood at its core is quite racist.

Yeah, it be a shitty mindset for the studio execs to have, but that's the reality of those behind-the-scenes.

They'd rather blame the lack of star power of the actors and likely generalize that into a racial aspect - rather than have to acknowledge other problems that might be more tied to who they hired or what they did on the project.

It allows them to turn the failure of the movie into a method to virtue signal about society/culture and claim it's the fault of the audience for disliking the film and that something is wrong with the audience instead of them.

@TyrantBossMedia - Of course he does. Metrics aren't everything, they're just cost effective apparently, but...to what end? They seem to think a thing isn't beautiful cuz it lasts, and then proceed to raze it with a blowtorch.

@Spawnnn - This is going to FAAAAAAR surpass what Mario is currently at. So much for the Covid narrative to justify superhero movies under performing. This, as well as Oppenheimer (which crossed $400 million) is proof that people are simply tired of superhero movies.

Covid did change the boxoffice. There is no denying. People's habits changed.

It's clear as day.

You need something special to be a hit nowadays.

Barbie has the novelty of being the first Barbie film ever and having a viral marketing campaign with Oppenheimer.

Mario was the first animated Mario film.

Two things can be true at the same time🤝

Not surprising. He's not a very bitter person by any means that I can tell and this film is potentially a continuation of a universe he helped start.

@Slotherin - it's been confirmed this is being retconned to being connected to the new dcu. Apparently the movie doesn't reference anything specific in the dceu nor does it contradict the dcu at all.
