Thanks to Simply Superheroes, we have these brand new pieces of Captain America: The First Avenger movie related artwork which will be used on official party supplies when merchandise for the film start hitting stores in the run up to its release this July.

Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy's earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment... Operation: Rebirth.

After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Solider Serum and bombarded by 'vita-rays.' Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and as leader of the Avengers.

Captain America: The First Avenger is set to be released on July 22, 2011!

Artwork is just drawings of the person and character as one in a 'would-be' pose. I'd prefer the real thing, but I'm not complaining..

Why is his neck covered, and why are the ear covers black in this artwork but not in the film? I like the neck being covered and ear pieces black. Not thrilled about the inconsistency, though.

Has anybody noticed that all the concept art and images have been of a Cap with a darker blue suit, seemingly from a different material than the suit in the film. Also the straps for his shoulder pads are always black as opposed to grey (as are the straps on his helmet) and his neck is covered in all the artwork. I wonder if the concept images are of the final version of the suit.

Nice find Josh!

@ logan - dont forget mate this film is entirely in the past, when he gets a modern costume in the avengers he may have the wings then.
Fishandchips
Fishandchips - 2/1/2011, 12:52 PM
@logan - yeah that would be my two cents, i think we'll get an updated costume for avengers movie for sure, even if its not quite what we expect, it should be made more modern, as he would have been wearing his costume for 60-70 years and that would be stanky as hell.

Last year it didn't go so well with my Fantastic Four theme

Thanks HAWKS...I've been curious about the seemingly different material for a while now as well. Your theory is definitely the most likely option though! I think we might just be looking at the suit Evans will wear in The Avengers!

Forgive my ignorance, but do the wings represent something specific? or is it one of those things that people are--for lack of better words--attached to? I don't intend to start a whole wing debate, I was just wondering because a lot of people discuss the wings. To me, I think the painted on look is kinda cool.

Yea im with Hawks on this one... Im guessing this is the modern (Avengers) Suit. U can tell from the Neck, the black helmet straps, the gloves and the look material looks different and more modern.
