Anthony Mackie seemed to be the biggest trash-talker when it came to the nonexistent rivalry between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the growing DC Extended Universe. However, when the Captain America: Civil War star spoke with Empire, Flickering Myth, and IGN at the press junket for his new crime thriller Triple 9, he discussed the opposing universes, as well as what we should expect from Marvel Studios’ first outing this year.

“It’s still strange to me that people think DC and Marvel are rivals, thinking we sit on the Marvel sets talking (trash) about DC,” Anthony Mackie told Flickering Myth last week. When he asked about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and who he’s rooting for, the actor said, “If I had to pick, I’d pick Batman… Michael Keaton is my favorite Batman, though if I got to hang out with Morgan Freeman for the rest of my life, I’d be happy!”

About Captain America: Civil War, Anthony Mackie told IGN that it will be “very different” from the previous movies. “I feel the best Marvel movies thus far have been Iron Man and Winter Soldier,” he said. “And I think this movie far surpasses those two movies. I think the Russo brothers and Marvel have done a very good job with upping the ante every movie. And this one definitely does not fail to live up to that.” During his interview with Empire, Mackie declared the upcoming Marvel threequel a “true suspense thriller.” “The build-up to the fight is what makes it so interesting,” he added. “Because there are so many different factions of who’s right and who’s wrong and who supports who. Once we get all of that out the way, then it becomes more action-packed and more of us kicking each other’s’ ass. If it’s a civil war, you have to establish why there’s a war,” Anthony Mackie continued. “You can’t just start fighting and expect people to appreciate it. What Marvel is very good at doing is making these stories about characters and story and then layering action on top of that. And this holds true to that.” What do you think?

Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo and from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. With an all-star cast that includes Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo, with William Hurt, and Martin Freeman, Captain America: Civil War is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016.

@PantherKing - The problem with Avengers is that i feel it too silly, too colorful, i never really liked the movie, it feel really fake and childish to me.

My problem with Ant Man is that movie make me hate Marvel, because is a huge missed opportunity, Ant Man could have been the Deadpool of Marvel studios, a game changer, a risky movie, about a criminal who finds the way to redeem himself and try to save his relationship with his daughter while he proves Maggy is wrong.

But sadly the movie was about Robin Hood, who never do anything bad againts a mix between Darren Cross and Egghead. For me Ant Man is only decent because was going to be done by the great master of visual comedy Edgar Wright and sadly the movie only is good thanks to everything he write and create.

So for me Marvel have done only 4 good movies who i really like and 3 of this movies were the only game changers of all the 12 movies.

-Iron Man

-Winter Soldier

-Guardians of the Galaxy

-Thor (Because the character development of that movie is perfect and the Asgard scenes are great).

Later for me i like also:

-Age of Ultron (a huge missed oportunity).

-Ant Man (everytime i watch this movie i feel so sick).

-Captain America: The First Avenger (the only good threequel they will do).
