Amid promotion for Avengers: Age of Ultron, which opens internationally today, Scarlett Johansson talked a bit about her return as Natasha Romanoff, aka the Black Widow, inthe much-anticipated Captain America: Civil War. IGN asked the actress if she'd like to see Widow's past explored more, or would she rather the character move forward and become sort of a mentor to the new Avengers.

"I think that the Widow's past will always haunt her," she replied. "She's trying to move forward, she's trying to pick up the pieces of her life. I think we'll see parts of that in Cap 3 when we find her. And certainly she has a greater purpose, and I think that greater is charged by this need [for her] to escape her past. So, it's always kind of right there, kind of looming over her shoulders."

In a separate interview with Reuters at yesterday's European premiere of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Scarlett Johansson had teased a darker tone in Captain America: Civil War. "I can't elaborate too much on it," she said. "But as the scope of these movies is larger and larger and the danger kind of looms larger and larger, I don't want to say that the film has a darker tone, but the film has a darker tone and I think it's maturing along with the fans." Meanwhile, Digital Spy recently asked Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner about their respective return as Captain America and Hawkeye in Civil War. Watch that interview below as well as Scarlett Johansson's. What do you think?

Directed by Joe & Anthony Russo, Captain America: Civil War stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Chadwick Boseman, Frank Grillo, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie & Daniel Brühl, with appearances by Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Samuel L. Jackson expected. The film opens May 6, 2016

They've said black 0 anther has his own agenda is Cap 3....that makes me think he'll be spying on the Avengers like he did in Earth's Mightiest Heroes, before he met them. I want a scene where he single handedly takes them all put except for Cap, they have similar skill sets and they fight to a draw.but yea, maybe he needs there help or is monitoring them to see who he should side with during the superhero registration act. Most likely, he wants answers concerning Ultron coming into his country and stealing vibranium. He spies on the avengers first to learn about them

"DC films are mature and shit. Dark and serious. All it needs to be - it's WB's tone and that's what they're going with."

*Lord and Miller announced*

"BOOM-- take that! Yup, see? It's not all dark and gritty. Ugh you guys are ridiculous assuming otherwise. Where are the haters now?"

Darker? Is that the go to word for "a more serious and dramatic tone"?

Write a damn good story and I don't care how "dark" it is. They're Super heros who constantly beat up people and aliens. I'm sure shit gets serious for them. I don't know why this is something people complain about. It can be dark AND still fun.

"I don't want to say that the film has a darker tone, but the film has a darker tone"

Haha what does that even mean.

Can't see this movie being anything other than a big mess unfortunately.

Marvel will advertise as dark and dangerous with raised stakes, but give us the same slapstick, wakka wakka banter between the Avengers while they blow stuff up.

@ Maroofio

I think a lot of Comic based shows should be on netflix. Its the perfect outlet for these kinds of shows and the success of DD proved that. Either netflix, HBO, Cinemax or Showtime. I think Constantine should have been on Netflix.
