“I’ve been more hurt on this movie than I ever have,” Chris Evans tells the Los Angeles Times during a break from filming Captain America: The Winter Soldier. “I haven’t broken a bone, but you get hurt. There was a bunch of fight sequences on this movie where you’re like, ‘Wow, I just destroyed my knee today doing the same roll four or five times,’ but nothing that ice and Advil can’t fix, I suppose.” Speaking about his character, the actor says “For Steve, it’s about what is right. He’s relatively acclimated to the modern day — it’s not tech shock anymore, he’s not just like, ‘What’s a cellphone?’ It’s more about, given his situation, given the company he works for, what are we doing that’s the right thing? How much privacy, civil liberties are we willing to compromise for security? It’s pretty crazy how relevant it is right now.”

“Meeting [Anthony] Mackie’s character, he used to serve, now he works at the VA counseling guys who come home with PTSD — they connect on that level,” Evans continues. “I think they’re both wounded warriors who don’t bleed on other people. Cap has no one to bleed on. I think Mackie knows how to handle people like that. … Sometimes when things are bad, trusting a stranger is the way to go.” Evans also said that though he felt very invited to contribute ideas to Captain America: The Winter Soldier, he admits the workload was more heavy than the last time he wielded Cap's shield alongside Earth's mightiest heroes. “Avengers was so great,” he reminisced. “If you’re not in a big fight sequence, guess what? You got two weeks off.”

The L.A. Times also caught up with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, as he further discussed the 1970s political thriller approach to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. “We loved that idea of embracing the conflict that Steve has had in the comics from the moment he thawed out and woke up in the mid-’60s,” Feige said. “Imagine that, going to sleep in the 1940s and waking up and you’ve got the JFK assassination and MLK and RFK and Woodstock and Watergate. Clearly, we’re not doing any of that stuff, but we’re embracing the tone of those comics.”

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy — the Winter Soldier. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony & Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release on April 4, 2014.

hopefully in a future Avengers movie they'll give Falcon's suit a paint job. A tactical but red and white suit with the wings painted red

This is going to be great. I bet this will be the dark Marvel movie all those DC fans are clamouring for. That said I am sure the will still be comedic segments sprinkled about, but try to not let it get all your panties in a bunch!

Everything I read about this movie just gets me more and more excited. I wasn't fond of having the Falcon in it, but seeing how they're both going to connect through apparent PTSD issues is pretty intriguing. "Wounded warriors that don't bleed on other people," needing to trust each other as strangers...really cool stuff.

See, Captain America is someone who should have a movie dedicated to him, his character, and PTSD issues. Not Tony Stark. I hate bringing this movie up again, but his PTSD issues in Iron Man 3 just came across as forced and very lame. Seeing how jokey and light-hearted he was in The Avengers, it wasn't convincing at all that he would suddenly have a mental breakdown. But Captain America? That actually makes sense.

Nah, but maybe one that is critically panned as I predicted before will come about, what you think?
Spyder

I believe the suit we see him wearing in the new still is one that was in a display case celebrating the history of Captain America during WWII that he'll probably occupy to show that he's going back to his roots and doesn't want to be a cog in the wheel of the S.H.I.E.L.D. machine and be just a hero.
