Hugo Weaving Comments Briefly On His Captain America Experience!

The Iron Man comment irks me for some reason, it's as if he's not entirely sure, or doesn't care.

I'm certain it'll be great, and Weaving will be a great Rskull.

They are taking too long with showing stuff and I need to see more than explosions. Need to see Red Skull or some dialogue from him.

Trailer 2 should be here soon. At the very latest end of the month. I wouldn't be surprised if the trailer showed up with Hangover 2's launch, or Pirates of the Caribbean for that matter. If the marketing department is smart (granted, if the trailer is ready as well) then they should release it alongside two movies that will bring a HUGE crowd.

I have to believe Marvel went balls to the wall with this one. After all it is Captain friggin' America!

This movie looks fantastic. I'm not really a fan of Marvel but the films are always enjoyable. However I think this will be the best Marvel film yet!

Iron man was AWESOME but idk it gets me how everyone refrences it as a standard. Iron Man Works because of the story,theme and actors. Captain AMerica in my opinion is a different beast. I dont want it to be like Iron Man.

Heck I think Thor Takes the place of my fav Marvel film.

I have to say tho, although Thor is my fav super hero, im SUPER excited for CAP. Probably due to that we havent seen much of this film at ALL!

Cap will be good, if they're making something that relates to Rocketeer and Raiders of the Lost Ark, like they said.

I'm curious to know why you think that GL and X-MEN:FC are going to suck and why you think CA:TFA might suck?

As far as I'm concerned, I sincerely hope that the 3 CBMs remaining this summer would AT LEAST be on par with Thor quality wise and that they make tons of money for the good of CBMs.

He looked good in the mask. I think this movie has the potential to be the best CBM this year. Evans better bring it though. He better pull off Cap's swagger or it (and maybe even The Avengers) is going to bomb.

Hugo Weaving is an extraordinary actor! He brings his charactors to life!

People always respond with trollish insults when I mention this, but Hugo Weaving isn't really the genre villain/"nerd movie" specialist too many of you perceive him to be, nor are these sorts of roles his favorite. The comments above are likely as enthusiastic as he's going to get about this film. I think the comparison to Iron Man is apt in that the actor playing the villain in that film-- Jeff Bridges-- didn't have a lot of screentime either. Both films are origin stories, so they focus on the titular superhero by definition, with the obligatory sideplots-- love story, nemesis, and introduction of secondary characters likely to be more prominent in sequels-- getting less screentime.

Weaving probably took the role to finance the indie projects he prefers acting in, and because he enjoyed working with director Joe Johnston on The Wolfman, not a movie anyone will say was a highlight in either of their careers. (Weaving was actually on the Wolfman set for four months, and his role in that film is relatively brief.)He's never said he loved the Captain America script, that he considers this the opportunity of a lifetime, or made any of the other sorts of comments one would expect from an actor who wants to make a career of these kinds of roles (ie Chris Evans).

In a MySpace/MTV interview filmed during last year's Comic Con, he termed the Red Skull role "just a job, really". He hopes viewers have fun with the film, and maybe it was fun to work on too. But people shouldn't define him by these sorts of roles, because it's rather insulting. I hope some fans follow the link to the Inside Film piece and watch Weaving's work in films like Little Fish, Last Ride and the forthcoming Oranges and Sunshine. Then you'll know what he's really capable of.
