Chris Evans Comments On Tom Holland Being CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR's 'Spider-Man'

It's been reported that Tom Holland (In The Heart Of The Sea) was the only actor to screen test for the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Atlanta with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans. Hit the jump to see what the latter had to say about the casting decision via Twitter...

Tom Holland is expected to spend only around a week on the Atlanta set of Captain America: Civil War, so it's clear that the new Peter Parker/Spider-Man isn't going to have a massive role when he makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. It does however sound like he will be sharing scenes with both Chris Evans' Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man (and if the "Sony Hack" is to be believed, it will be Tony Stark who presents the young Spidey with his Iron Spider costume).

Chris Evans has sent out a Tweet congratulating the actor, while Ron Howard has also weighed in on the casting both on Twitter and in an interview with BBC Radio 5. In that, he talks in depth about what makes Holland the right choice for Spider-Man, and you weren't already on board with the casting...you will be after listening to this! I really like the choice of Tom Holland, he fits the Ultimate Spider-Man look.

Now if we can just cover up that mole...

I don't get Ron Howard's point so to speak.

Humor I get but I think it's fair to say Tobey did bring heart to Spider-Man.

Does me mean in comparison to previous Spideys or Tom on his own?

Really think about this guys. Marvel tested over 1,500 actors for the role, and as we all know they try their absolute hardest to get the absolute best person for their main heroes. Tom Holland…is gonna blow us the [frick] away! I just know it.

Ender's Game was the worst movie I've ever seen. Harrison Ford should've retired from acting years ago.

Damn, Ron Howard gives him HIGH praise here. Holland sounds like a really rare mixture of being so young, but so mature. I'm sure he'll be able to handle this very well. This definitely makes me feel more confident that Marvel got the right guy.

I find it amazing how influential RDJ and Chris Evans have become to the MCU. Kevin Feige used them to welcome Chadwick Boseman at the Marvel event last October. And now, they were used to help Marvel pick the next Spider-Man. They are both class acts in welcoming new folks into the MCU family.

Also, I love every time we hear from any member of the cast welcoming the new actors joining be it on social media or at comic-con like Mark Ruffalo did last year with Paul Rudd. It just makes fans feel all these folks have a real affinity with each other outside of their acting gigs.
