CIVIL WAR II Fan Poster Imagines What A Sequel To 2016's CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Could Look Like

Captain America: Civil War remains one of Marvel Studios' best movies, but what could a sequel look like? This fan-made poster imagines the heroes who could take centre stage in a possible Civil War II...

Captain America: Civil War may seem like a relatively small-scale movie compared to the likes of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, but back in 2016, it was a very big deal.

Similar to what happened when the comic book it shares a name with launched a decade earlier, fans passionately picked a side with some declaring for #TeamCap and others firmly supporting #TeamIronMan. Ultimately, this clash had game-changing consequences for the wider MCU.

Whether it was the introduction of Black Panther and Spider-Man or the rift that split The Avengers down the middle, Civil War's impact was felt massively in the years which followed. So, what if Marvel Studios made a sequel?

No, we're sadly not referring to an upcoming episode of What If...?, but instead, a very cool fan-made poster which spotlights some potential key players in a future "Civil War II" conflict. The comic book sequel was a tad underwhelming and it's hard to say whether a big screen follow-up could reach the same highs as its predecessor.

In 2022, Captain America: Civil War producer Nate Moore credited Kevin Feige with suggesting they adapt Civil War in the Avengers-level threequel.

"We knew we had to resolve, obviously, the Winter Soldier storyline. We wanted Cap and Bucky to ultimately reunite. And we knew we wanted to use Zemo. What a great character. You know, he's obviously a classic Cap villain. We were building the movie around a MacGuffin around the Madbomb, which, the Madbomb goes off and causes normal people to start fighting each other. It's honestly a little similar to what I think they did in Kingsman."

"[Feige] was like, 'That's not a big enough idea, guys.' And we're like, 'Let us write a draft, we'll prove it to you.' [Feige:] 'Okay, prove it to me.' As we're getting done with it... he pulls me into his office and he said, 'You know, I think we should try to do Civil War. And I was like, 'Kevin, we don't have half the stuff that's in Civil War. We don't have the New Warriors, we don't have... Here's all the reasons why we can't do it.' And he's like, 'Go home, read it, let's talk about it.'"

Interestingly, it's recently been claimed that Spider-Man 4 will be Marvel Studios' street-level Civil War. Read more about that here. Which heroes would you like to see pitted against each other in a possible Civil War II?

It was a good movie, but it was so tame when compared to the comic run. Civil War II was worse

@bobevanz - It at least did a good job exploring the core of the conflict - which was pro/against superhero registration. And the tragedy that kicked it off was somewhat similar (an explosion in public that killed innocents as superheroes were working).

I don't think this would have been as successful as the first 'Civil War' movie.

The whole idea behind Cap:Civil War was not only a "war" between Cap and Iron Man, but amongst the Avengers. Of the 8 on the poster, only 4 are actually Avengers.

I'm sure the next "Avengers" movie will more more AForce than anything.

What would be the central conflict? CA:Civil War made sense in the context of the MCU at the time as it built off of Age of Ultron.

Marvel really shot themselves in the foot by not having a small scale Avengers movie in 2022. Having a film where Sam has to establish a team and wrestle control from Captain Marvel, Shuri and maaaaaaybe Thor (3 characters who would feel they should lead for 3 very different, character informed reasons) would have gone a long way towards establishing the central dramas and conflicts of the MCU before Kang starts ramping up.

It would also have served The Marvels and probably even Thunderbolts better as well. I can see why they didn't go that route because no one knew a pandemic AND multiple strikes were coming to bust up all momentum and disrupt the hype machine more rapidly, but narratively speaking, an Avengers movie just makes things flow. It's the same way I felt about needing an Avengers movie between AOU and Civil War, just to really flesh out the dynamics of the team

No. Just end the MCU please. It's done and should have stayed done with Endgame. Give it a 5 year pause and then start over with Fantastic Four and then X-Men and re-casted Avengers. Stop putting a chick in it and making her gay.

Civil War should have been Avengers: Civil War with improved plot points and a final battle between Iron Man and Captain America that actually made sense. Then the third movie in the Captain America Trilogy should have been Captain America: Nomad, where Ross is the enemy, the raft is more than a throwaway location, and just something that made his return in Infinity War actually matter.

Honestly, it would be a really good move for Marvel to do a Civil War 2. You could even call it Captain America: Civil War 2. Though I think it would be more interesting to do a Captain Marvel: Civil War.

We need to see how these "new" Avengers interact with each other. We need to understand the new dynamics and what role everyone will play moving forward. We got that with Civil War. We knew how the OG Avengers worked together, but putting the two leads against each other and bringing in Spider-Man and Black Panther was a stroke of genius.

Obviously don't mirror the comic book Civil War 2 exactly, because the fans didn't love that story, and some of its key players aren't around anymore in the MCU. But you could use Civil War 2 to A) establish who the new leads are in the Avengers and B) establish much needed character dynamics with the new players.

You don't want to reintroduce the Accords, so you'd need to pick a new hot button issue for the current roster of supes. Maybe have it be about the Young Avengers and the ethics of letting minors with powers fight. Or go more cultural with it and have it be about a mystical artifacts registry (things like Ms. Marvel's Bangals, the ten rings, and even Mjolnir). Maybe Doctor Strange is tired of all of this random magical stuff happening and wants to take action. Carol Danvers would obviously be on the side of registry and be the one to confront Thor. And then you could have Captain America vs Shang Chi, Hawkeye vs Ms. Marvel, and a number of different pairings. Could also put Carol and Kamala on opposing sides.

Idk, that's what I'd do.

Garbage fan art with a patchwork quilt of characters. What's with all of the shards of glass?

I think at this point the best use of Captain Marvel is to make her a villain. They already pointed her in that direction after she wrecked the Kree homeworld in the last movie. Plus people will enjoy rooting against her.
