Both working for DC and Marvel comics, contributing his work on Adam Strange, Silver Age Flash Barry Allen along with Spider-Woman and Batman along with being co- creator of Batgirl, condolences go out to his family and friends.

He was inducted into the Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2000, and was cited in Comics Buyer's Guide Millennium Poll as the greatest penciller of all time.

DC Comics released this statement on Infantino's passing:

DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson: "The entire DC Entertainment family is saddened by the loss of Carmine Infantino. His contributions to the comics industry and to DC Comics in particular are immense and impossible to quantify. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans during this difficult time."

DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Jim Lee: "Carmine was a legend. The number of classic covers he created are innumerable. His influence, reach and impact is humbling and will always live on."

DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Dan DiDio: "There are few people in this world that have had as much of an impact on the industry as Carmine. He bridged both the Golden and Silver Ages of comics, shepherding in some of the most successful periods in our history and setting the course of our characters that is still seen today. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will remain forever."

@Dio - I don't unusually thumb up articles that have news such as this. I don't know why, but it feels kinda wrong and weird to thumb up articles that has news of someone's passing. I don't know, that's just me. :/

Why is this not on the front page? It's a pity a comic legend passes away and the bigger writers in this site don't seem to notice. I guess they're too focused on yet another Cosplay Hotties article.

@Redstorm, maybe you're right, they're too busy jacking off cosplayers.

This should be Front Page, Top Story.

The father of the Silver Age, the man behind Batman's 'new look' revamp, creator/co-creator of endless characters and the single greatest cover artist EVER and as publisher the man who brought in DC's new blood (Denny O'Neil, Neal Adams, Jim Aparo and on and on) - his contributions cannot be overstated.

RIP, Sig. Infantino

I agree that this should be on the front page. But I'm not a main contributor so it's unlikely it'll make it there.

This should've been put on the main, its a shame none of the main contributors thought this was newsworthy, but apparently posting up half-naked chicks in costumes is more important to those jokers than honoring one of the all-time greats. Carmine was the last surviving creator of one of the original members of the Justice League for crying out loud.
