Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, is starring in a comic book next year, but this won't be the original goth girl's first foray into that world. In the mid '80's the character had her own, short lived, ongoing DC comic called ELVIRA'S HOUSE OF MYSTERY. After that title ended, Elvira starred in another comic, ELVIRA: MISTRESS OF THE DARK, this time from Claypool Comics. Unlike her brief stint at DC, ELVIRA, MISTRESS OF THE DARK lasted for over 165 issues between 1993 and 2007.

Her new series, also titled ELVIRA, MISTRESS OF THE DARK, begins next year, and will be written by R.H. Stavis, with the art chores in the hands of Jeff Zarnow.

Elvira herself, Cassandra Peterson, had this to say about the project:

“Unlike a typical licensing deal, we are bringing together the power of the Elvira brand, a top-notch female writer and a rising artist to develop a new line of comic books independently. We will then find a publishing/distribution partner that shares our vision to unleash these stories to the world.”
