My Thoughts On Marvel Knights

Why I think Marvel's darker characters are the best ones.

Well lets see here, I know that we have all the great ones like Captain America, Iron Man and even Thor, but lets face it, sometimes the greatest heroes are the ones that barely even get the spotlight. From a spot of movies to some books that have had great runs, and even guest appearences in video games, these characters still haven't had it as much as the greater ones. To me, a hero is somebody that can never give and never will, no matter what the world thinks.

Heroes like Spider-Man, America, Iron Man, and Thor, are more influenced by the world that they protect so well, and sure they have it tough, but not like the Knights. Characters such as Daredevil, Punisher, Ghost Rider, Blade, and Doctor Strange are the greatest heroes to me because of the fact that they protect a world that literally hates them, and wouldn't hesitate about throwing one of these heroes in death's arms to escape death itself.

These characters are truly the knights of our modern world and they never stop slaying the dragons of Earth that breed evil and never seem to stop multiplying.
They have the strongest wills of all and never give up to save ones who shun them, people see them as freaks, criminals, worthless vigilantes, and horrifying monsters when they should see them for what they really are: Heroes.
The fact that these heroes see this point and still lean towards the right side of fence. That is simply amazing to still keep that up if you ask me.

Nobody has to agree with me but I just thought this would make an interesting article. This article is definitely open to comments if you care to share, and I will get back to whatever comments to discuss over them respectfully.

Be respectful, and good day peeps!!

The darker characters, like Ghost Rider, Daredevil, Moon Knight and Punisher are usually better because they're mostly written for adults.

All the other titles are for all ages, but the darker characters are usually going to be catching the attention of adults, and the writing styles show.

Look at Enis's run on Punisher Max. Strictly for adults, and it is the quintessential Punisher series. Nothing will ever capture the essence of that character quite like Enis did. But what happened? During Civil War, Punisher got reintroduced into the Marvel mainstream, and he sucks...horribly. Now we have creative teams that don't understand the character writing him, and artists that don't fit the character, making it look all cartoony, and its just bad. Frankencastle? get out of here. thats the kind of crap that happens when the dark characters are written in the mainstream...

I agree, Daredevil is so much better when he portrayed as he should be, dark. The Punisher is ok but I find his villains so lame. The character is good but some of his villains are absolutely crap. All they are some crazy gang boss who always loses against Punisher. Whereas Daredevil has a far better range of villains. Some characters work better as dark and some don't so Marvel Knights is good so it can be used for darker heroes.

@ george

the punisher's villains SHOULD be mob bosses. thats the whole reason he became the punisher, was to take out the mob. His character works much better when he's not fighting actual supervillains.

Would the X Men count as Marvel Knight because they fight for the people who hate them? They aren't really dark characters except Wolverine maybe but they still fight for people that don't specifically like them.

My favorite Marvel Knight character is the Punisher because of how he is so realistic. If my familyy was killed I'd probably do the same thing.

@superbatspiderman: not really, Marvel Knights is sort of a one off from most continuity stories, and usually dwells on darker subjects and expands the character in ways that can't be done inside normal runs.

like kriswone said, the X-Men aren't Marvel Knights. The Marvel Knights are characters that deal with more darker tones, and a little more adult oriented. For the most part, they are the street level heroes that don't usually deal with world wide threats. people like Daredevil, Moon Knight, Punisher, Elektra. These sort of people.
