A.X.E.: JUDGEMENT DAY - New Tie-Ins Tease An Epic Story Featuring Iron Man, Jean Grey, And Ajax

Starting next month, Kieron Gillen and Valerio Schiti's A.X.E.: Judgement Day will engulf the Marvel Universe, building off of recent events in Avengers, X-Men, and Eternals. The crossover event begins when the Eternals target mutantkind and the Avengers find themselves struggling to prevent an apocalyptic war between two of the strongest factions on the planet.

The six-issue event will tie into various ongoing series and launch new limited series and one-shots, including three written by Gillen himself. Those will bridge the gap between the penultimate and final issue with artwork from Federico Vicentini, Francesco Mobili, and Pasqual Ferry.

Together, they will spotlight Iron Man, Jean Grey, and Ajak as they embark on a vital and complex mission to penetrate the Progenitor Celestial and shut it down, facing their ultimate judgment every step of the way.

  • A.X.E.: Avengers #1 will strip Iron Man of his armor like never before. He’s spent his life building suits to protect him but now Tony Stark has to enter a suit of armor that could kill us all. Can he survive? Can anyone?
  • A.X.E.: X-Men #1 will examine Jean Grey’s intricate relationship with the Phoenix Force, burning away the mystery behind their connection once and for all. It wasn't her. It wasn't her. It wasn't her. It wasn't her. It wasn't her. Yet: "I am fire and life incarnate! Now and forever" Which part of "Now and Forever" is confusing to you? As one world burns, can Jean Grey justify her existence after burning another?
  • A.X.E.: Eternals #1 will tackle Ajak’s past decisions regarding the Celestials and how she plans to lead the Eternals through this latest challenge. Ajak has come a long way. She's met her maker. Hell, she's made her maker. Now can she - or anyone - survive her maker?

"I wanted Judgment Day to be a huge scale event book, but also really be absolutely about the people in it - that's Marvel comics to me," Gillen says. "When we say Superhuman we mean both Super and Human. These specials really drill down on that, giving a deep-dive personal horrorshow for the three sides in the crossover, centered on one of their main players - Tony Stark, Jean Grey and Ajak. With their history, can they really justify themselves? Let's find out, in this dungeon-delve-as-psychogeography hell trip."

Check out the main covers for all three issues, a connecting piece by Nic Klein, plus a variant connecting cover by Salvador Larrocca below ahead of their release this September.

Omg, I just looked up the Eternals comics, I know basically nothing about them.... and I realize now how we were completely boned by the movie.

These guys look bad ass! Ikaris looks super cool, like a fusion of He-Man and Superman and the others have totally unique outfits and designs.

Now look at these boring ass Power Ranger lookin mother [frick]ers with no personality and the same suit in different colors.

Was Chloe trying to make them as boring as possible?

@Vigor - when I had absolutely no frame of reference, I thought the movie was passable. I didn't hate it like others. But I wasn't impressed with anything I saw. I didn't find myself rooting for anyone or even caring about them. But it was OK.

But seeing all the artwork online from the comics, I feel robbed. Like with all the cool stuff they had to work with, this is what they gave us? Idk... they should have done something else.

@UGLYsonic - i loved the movie and the cosmic doors it opened up but unfortunately because of the i feel unearned hateraid it has gotten they will not go down this path so quickly. i really wanted more celestial and such. we could have gotten that in a sequel now that the origins are out of the way. now this giant half emerged celestial will go untouched and mentioned in future mcu projects i feel cause the eternals story will probably sit on hold. talk about missed oppurtunity......

@supermanrex - And after people screamed and complained about the MCU being the same and never doing anything different. When they finally do, hardly anyone shows up. These were probably the same people who rushed to see NWH.
