Ray Fisher, the actor who plays Cyborg in the Justice League movie, is sticking to the character even as rumors claim he's planning to make a run for it.

Like it or not, but Ray Fisher is Cyborg and he has no plans to leave the role any time soon. In the past, we’ve had several rumors claiming the actor would step away from the DC role, and if he did, one could understand why.

But unlike Ben Affleck who has yet to confirm whether or not he’s staying as Batman, Ray Fisher came out to confirm that he’s Cyborg, and nothing is going to change that.

We’re happy he’s staying because he fits the character really well. The only major downside with Cyborg in the Justice League movie was the design, but overall, the actor did a splendid job with what he was given.

“I don't usually engage the rumor-mill, but it's recent turn may be worth a little grist: I am NOT, nor do I have ANY intention of, leaving Cyborg,” according to Fisher in a statement on Twitter. “Furthermore, if/when the time comes for me to hangup my all-too-revealing mocap onesie, you will hear it from me directly. #BORGLIFE”

Now, this statement doesn’t mean Ray Fisher could stay on as Cyborg for a long time. We have to bear in mind that originally, Warner Bros. and DC had planned to release a Cyborg solo movie in 2020, but nothing seem to be happening on that front.

Furthermore, there are no plans right now to follow-up on Justice League in the near future, which means, the Cyborg character is stuck in limbo for all we know.

As it stands right now, we might have to wait a long time before we see Cyborg again since the DC Cinematic Universe is slowly trying to rebuild. Everyone involved must be smart in deciding which movie gets made, and when it comes out to keep the general storyline synchronized in a way that is similar to Marvel.

Good actor deserves a shot at getting the character right and a Cyborg movie in a modern world could explore some contemporary themes like privacy, data storage, human progression at what point are you machine and not man.

So if WB put the effort in, they could make a good movie

@guyatadesk - Snyder did reflect some of those themes, and he is far more focused on character than most people realize. Unfortunately in Cyborg's case, we only got maybe 20% of his scenes in the film. Hopefully they #ReleasetheSnyderCut and we can get the rest. I thought he was every bit the character Marv Wolfman created, and want to see more of him. I would also give anything to see the rest of Superman's scenes.

He was one of the bright spots in JL, he actually took the role seriously and made me care about him.

Yet Ben Affleck won't clear up whether he will or won't still be playing the Batman... even though that rumor exists for a year and a half now...

*sigh*

He may not be abandoning the Borg Life, but it looks like the WB Borg life is abandoning him.

It's a shame because I found his character the most interesting of the squad in JL. It just looks like they cut out all of his backstory and most of his character moments in the film in the editing room, as he was hardly in any scenes by himself.

Oh well... Maybe we'll get him on the big screen again one day.

With all of the rumors for these other DC movies no one really wants, i havent heard anything about his solo, or being in another flick.

I just don’t understand the point of a Cyborg solo... does he have any notable villains or supporting cast aside from his dad?

He works much better as a supporting character imo

@PicolasCage - Agreed, but hasn't the solo movie been canceled way before the rumor of him leaving the franchise?

I'm not at my computer at the moment, but when I get home, I'll link you my ever-growing list of all the WB/DC films that are technically "in production" right now. It's like 20 films, it's crazy.

@PicolasCage - I would love a Superhero movie that abandoned the whole “let’s fight a villain” trope

There has to be another more interesting and original story that could be told.

@DCFilmJunkie - well you need conflict of some sort, and there’s only so many times you can make heroes fight each other. There aren’t really many options.

@L0RDbuckethead - There are at least three DC Films in production that we know of. "Shazam!", "Wonder Woman 1984" and "Joker". We may be seeing "The Flash", "Birds of Prey" and "The Batman" go into production next year, but everything else is in development (Hell) until otherwise noted.

@SisterSunday52 - Whatever you say. Because your opinions have been SOOO credible in the past.

I'll stick to my sources, thanks. Can't wait to read your long reply to see how many times it includes the words "Trailer Park" and "Frankenstein's Monster".

He's a pretty decent Cyborg, so if the DCEU can get me interested again, have a great movie team attached, and a new and improved character design (as much as they can salvage from the horrible design choice of having him be literally half a human face and machine everything else), I could see myself checking out a Cyborg movie.

As for now, this potential movie seems extremely unlikely.

I liked him in JL. I also thought that the design issue mentioned in the article was resolved at th end of the movie. There’s always a chance it could change yet again as he was still “evolving “ in the movie. I’m not sure he could carry a flick by himself although if they had a good story, who knows. A buddy movie could work with one other principle hero.

I'd love to see a Teen Titans movie with a teenage cast, including a new Cyborg. No disrespect to him.

I liked that cast in JL, even though the movie was not very good. I don't care for Cyborg the character that much, but Ray was solid and did well with what he was given. Definitely think he deserves another opportunity in the role in another JL film or someone else's film.

But not a Cyborg solo, mostly because that would suck.

I have no desire to see a solo Cyborg film, but a Metal Men team up or Titans movie would be cool.

You make it sound like a bad thing that he wants to keep playing Cyborg. I thought he did a really good job with the role.

I have nothing against Ray Fisher, but I still think it was a huge mistake to shoehorn Cyborg in the Justice League as a founding member.

A Teen Titans film would have been a better vehicle for Cyborg/Fisher.
