FAN CAST: The Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D by JoshW

Here are my casting choices for all the S.H.I.E.L.D characters that I’d like to see introduced in The Avengers or other Marvel Studios movies! Hit the jump for my new picks for Maria Hill, Taskmaster, Clay Quartermain, Abigail Brand, Sharon Carter and many more...

While a S.H.I.E.L.D movie isn’t exactly what I consider a priority for Marvel Studios, The Avengers is the perfect opportunity for them to introduce plenty of new characters regardless of whether or not it becomes a reality. They could then feature in other movies (instead of only Nick Fury and Agent Coulson) while characters like Jessica Drew, Tony Masters and Carol Danvers could eventually be established into becoming their better know superhero counterparts and spinning off into other films and their own franchises. Below are my choices for the S.H.I.E.L.D agents I’d like to see make their way to the big screen in the near future.

Jennifer Beals as Abigail Brand

Not much is known about Abigail since little has been revealed about her personal life. Aside from her age, the only thing known about her is that she is a commanding officer of both S.H.I.E.L.D. and S.W.O.R.D. which are dedicated to the defending the Earth against extraterrestrial threats.

Nice cast dude, but I want Eliza Dushku for Hill in a Whedon Avengers and Paul Rudd is too old for O'Grady how bout Bret Harrison. Otherwise a great cast dude.

You actually want the chick from "Flashdance" for Brand?
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 12/19/2010, 1:31 PM
InSpace: Thanks man - Dushku would be a great choice as well...I'm just desperate to see Wilde in a superhero movie, and figured that Maria Hill would be a great fit! Bret Harrison, eh? He was always my top choice for Spider-Man, but I could definitely see him as O'Grady. I'll go and check out your buyers guide now!

ABZ: Rather than write it all out here, I'll email you an example of one of the above links as that's much easier than trying to explain it to be honest!

OptimusPrime114: Can't say I recall seeing that to be honest. All I know is that she gave a brilliant performance in The Book Of Eli, and her character in Lie To Me has a lot of the characteristics that Brand should have. For that reason, I think she'd be the perfect choice! :)

Good cast man! :)
Liking Michelle as Jessica, she even looks like her which is a plus for me. Though I think Ashley Greene would be more suited for Janet Van Dyne/Wasp once her deal with Twilight finally closes, and once Edgar starts on the Ant-Man film. Even the Janet on Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes reminds me of her! An omen perhaps? LOL.

MikeZ - 12/19/2010, 4:17 PM
Wow, where the hell have you been lately? Well, I guess I know what to do for my next fancast, Josh. Let me do a thorough examination, if you don't mind:

"Jennifer Beals as Abigail Brand"
Okay, not bad actually. I don't know how old Brand is supposed to be, because I'm planning on fan-casting her for a S.H.I.E.L.D. fancast. My choice would be Sarah Paulson, standing at 5'6".

"Hayley Atwell as Sharon Carter"
I'm not sure, can that work? Sharon's a blondie. I saw "Faster", and since Maggie Grace is working those guns well, I vote for her as Sharon.

"Penelope Cruz as Contessa Valentina Allegro de la Fontaine"
Okay, hold up. Is it me, or is Valentina supposed to be one of them I-ties (or however it's said). Penelope's espanol. I'm not saying I've got problems with her (her and Salma Hayek were awesome in that one movie "Banditas"), but let's look at nationality. My choice is MILF Monica Bellucci.

"Michelle Ryan as Jessica Drew (aka Spider-Woman)"
Funny you should cast that. You're my inspiration for me casting her as Spider-Woman for MY New Avengers cast (link is below).

"Ashley Greene as Daisy Johnson (aka Quake)"
I don't know what to think of this girl. Like I said earlier, she's dating one of those Jonas twinkies (I don't think any of them reached puberty) and it looks like he's trying to prove to everyone that he's straight, but to no avail. And she's got the mindset of a little brat if she's even considered [frick]ing him. Sorry, back on topic. Angelina Jolie's character from "Hackers" was the basis of Daisy Johnson, so I'm going with her.

"Denzel Washington as Gabriel Jones"
I may know the perfect role for Denzel: Bishop. It fits well his acting style, and he's played a hero in the future ("The Book of Eli"). How revived would a future "X-Men" movie be with his presence?

"Paul Rudd as Eric O’Grady (aka Ant-Man)"
I like this choice. I guess y'all got tired of Simon Pegg and James Roday, so you went with this dude. I don't know how old Eric O'Grady is in the comics, but I know Paul Rudd matches the personality and has the exact height. Kudos, my n*gga.

"Olivia Wilde as Maria Hill"
Oh, damn. Ain't she too young to play Maria Hill? What happened to everyone falling for Hillary Swank? Olivia would make a great Crystalia Maximoff, considering my choice for the actress who plays Medusa bears a similar resemblance.

"Ryan McPartlin as Clay Quartermain"
Well played, my man. Even though I thought of Alan Ritchson (Aquaman from "Smallville"), and Ryan would be good as Mister Immortal in a "Great Lakes Avengers" movie.

"Josh Holloway as Jasper Sitwell"
Hmm. I read on Marvel's Wiki that "Jasper is made fun of for his youth". Okay, not the exact words. Josh would make a great Gambit for "X-Men 4" (he looks like Taylor Kitch in his early 40's). Even though everybody's given up on the franchise (not me, I'll wait until the reviews come out for "First Class").

"John Cho as Jimmy Woo"
Hmm. Well, John is branching out into serious work ("Flash Forward"), but I'll never forget him as Harold Lee. I'll take that into consideration.

Now, check out my fan cast for Champions of Los Angeles and New Avengers while you're at it.

I forgot one

"Wentworth Miller as Tony Masters"
Ooh, this is tough. I mean, this guy needs 24-hr-long martial arts classes, considering Taskmaster is a master fighter. But at least you went with someone taller, so I can't begrudge you.

Awesome cast. I agree with your Spider-Woman, Gabe Jones, Taskmaster and Quartermain casts.

Agent Brand: I prefer Stana Katic for the role.

Sharon Carter: I don't see anything wrong with Atwell as Peggy Carter. My picks for Sharon are Alice Eve and Maggie Grace, cause they look similar to Atwell.

Contessa: Penelope Cruz is a terrific actress, but I think Monica Belucci looks exactly the part.

Quake: Krysten Ritter is my pick for Quake, but Ashley would be good too.

Eric O'Grady: Rudd is too old for the part. Someone suggested Aaron Paul for the role, and I find this a great casting.

Maria Hill: I prefer Marion Cotillard for Maria Hill. Olivia Wilde should play Siryn, since she looks great with red hair and is practically Irish.
Olivia would also make a great Wasp. Just watch Tron, Quorra's personality and looks really reminds me of Janet's.

Ibz - 12/19/2010, 6:33 PM
i honestly use to think task master was a crappy villain but after reading his recent mini i have to say he has a great backstory, tony masters cameo in avengers would be great, amazing cast dude
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 12/19/2010, 7:09 PM
Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate your comments! :) The one casting choice that I really stick by here is Olivia Wilde as Maria Hill. Not only does she look perfect for the role, but I think she'd nail the personality of the character too. Thanks again, and I hope to have some more casts for you in the coming weeks!

AverageCitizen99: Yeah, when it comes to looks, Michelle Ryan is the best choice for Spider-Woman. (kudos goes to DDD for that one) Casting a British actress as a British character is also important to me. Agree with you about Greene too. She'd make a great Janet. (although may be a little young)

RoadDogXXIV: Thanks for the detailed feedback - it's always appreciated! Now to address some of your points. I'd like to keep Atwell as Sharon simply because of the interesting moments it would create. Imagine Steve seeing her, and instantly thinking back to Peggy. That would be lost if they cast another actress IMO. You are completely right about Belucci, and I actually cast in in this part until I realised that Cruz just fits the character a lot better regardless of being Spanish rather than Italian! Just personal taste as I prefer her as an actress. And without repeating myself over and over, I might as well just tell you that I really like all of your above alternate casting suggestions and pretty much agree with all your points, lol! Loving the thought of Denzel as Bishop especially. I'll be sure to check out your other casts too...I've not really had time to check in on "Fan Fic" that much lately.

canadianturd: As soon as I'm done here, I'll go take a look!

ThalesNJ: Thanks a lot man - I like your choices equally as much to be honest. The way I see it is that there are a lot of great actors suited to the characters, and just as many great characters suited to the actors! I'd be happy for any of them to make their way to the big screen somehow. See my above comment to RoadDogXXIV about Belucci.

Ibz: I agree 110%. I was never a big fan of Taskmaster, and he was always a second rate villain in my eyes, but that recent mini was excellent and has me wanting to see a lot more of him in future! As soon as I read that, I realised that I had to include him in this cast...it would be a fantastic way for them to introduce him in The Avengers, even if it's only a five second cameo. At least then he's established and ready to be fleshed out in future films.

DDD: Lol, thanks a lot bud - it's always a pleasure to hear from you. (never see you over in "News" that much these days?) Sorry I missed that or any of your other casts. I always forget to check. I'm going to go and have a look for them now actually. And as I've said already, full kudos goes to you for Michelle as Spider-Woman!

since86: Heh, thanks man. You know I'm not LEE though, right?

Intruder: Cheers dude.. As I've mentioned above, I think it would be a great idea to cast Atwell as Sharon because they look identical in the comics, and it would make for some great drama in the next Captain America movie! Beals may be a little old (no idea of her exact age) but I reckon she could still pull it off. Gotta love a MILF dude. :P
