Harley Quinn is no riddle.

Harley Quinn is no riddle.

Since Joker isn't going to be in the sequel, it's probably safe to say that we wont be seeing a miss Harleen Quinzel either. But here is who I think could possibly play it out...

Please scroll down to paragraph 3 to skip my introduction and to get to my story.

Alright, so this is my first article. I've been a fan of this site for years and I just had the courage to make an account and make my first article because I would like to see if anyone else in this world can agree with me or if I'm just awful.

But a disclaimer for everyone; as far as comic books go, my knowledge is limited. I want to be perfectly honest. I read Batman, X-men, and Elektra. I'm open to others but i haven't really gotten into the fandoms, so if i say something out of context or wrong, I do apologize. This is my disclaimer and my fair warning.

ANYWAY. You take Harley Quinn, a hopelessly devoted servant to the Joker. Their relationship is very complex and very hard to understand. In the Nolan-verse version of Batman, Heath Ledger portrayed a very surprising take of him that I absolutely loved. And I'm sure i'm not the only one. Now, I'm more than certain if Heath was still around, Joker would be in the sequel AND we would probably see Dr. Harleen Quinzel AKA Harley Quinn.

I think one of the best actresses for the role would be none other than this lady right here: Ellen Page.

Why? Because, well first of all Chris Nolan has a knack for recycling actors and she was marvelous in Inception. Second of all it's Ellen Page, I know not everyone loves her, but i think she's amazing and could totally own this part. Watching the movie 'Hard Candy' made me realize this. She can play twisted, manipulative, crazy, as well as naive. Ellen Page isn't exactly the hottest actress out there, but if the role is played well then why not? Chances are she'd be all make-uped out. And I feel like fans would be able to take the actress more seriously than just putting in a 'regulation hottie' in a black and red unitard with an awful laugh that makes you wanna drown a kitten. I believe Ellen Page could portray the twisted justification, the longest for acceptence, vulnerability, and insecurity that she displays.

And I feel like if Heath Ledger was still alive, it would be very likely for this route to be taken.

Your thoughts? I don't know if anyone else has come up with this idea or not, I'd be lying if I said I checked. So I apologize if I'm repeating someone elses existing article. But what do you guys think? Let me know!

How bout Rebecca Hall or Scar Jo ?

They were both in The Prestige another Nolan film.

Also Since the Joker wont be in the sequel, they could still have Harley.

They could have her as a studying student/Psychiatrist interested in the Joker and studying his madness. Then She becomes obsessed and slashes her mouth to look like him and then takes on Batman as a gift for him or something like that, idk.

Nolan should stop being so arrogant (think thats the right word ?) and have the Joker be in the sequel as a cameo nonetheless . Ledger's portrayal was good but let someone else have a crack at it.

I like Ellen Page as an actor. As a person, she's an idiot. I think she could play the role pretty well but I personally prefer Kirsten Bell.

@InSpace Nolan isn't being arrogant by not including The Joker. He's stated many times that he's unwilling to do it because it would be too emotionally difficult for him to work with another actor in that part after everything that happened with Heath, and, while I believe the part could be re-cast, you have to respect Nolan's feelings on that one.

welcome to CBM mate, nice article, i personally think page is too young to have been up with ledger, but idk. i would prefer kristen bell personally.

InSpace - its not arrogance. and the joker is not just a role that can be filled. heath ledger totally embodied the joker with his performance, and any attempt to redo that version of the joker would just be a poor imitation, and many people would find it offensive. and they couldnt just have someone play him different because the audience would destroy him.

anyway, welcome aboard and keep on going

why couldnt they use her in the film working for the joker, along side the riddler, and others working all for the joker.

They should mention Dr. Harleen Francis Quinzel (Harley Quinn) in the movie as a bright Psychiatrist at the new Arkham Asylum working along side Professor Hugo Strange. But I like I said, just mention Quinn & Strange.

And during or after the credits they should show her in her office looking at news paper clips of the Joker and show some paint on her desk. Ending with her giving a sinister laugh.

i would say either johnny depp or jude law for the joker, but wait a while. whenever nolan finishes and the next spate of movies comes along, bring one of these guys in to show us their take on the joker

I've said this before maybe Batman, Commissioner Gordon, or someone can be walking through Arkham Asylum and have a blonde woman walking out of a cell and say "Cya later Mr. J" or we hear heath Ledgers Joker Laugh that was done in TDK. No physical appearance from the Joker, but something for Heath Ledger. No replacement until this new director comes in

I like your idea and I can see where you're coming from. But I feel that someone like Kristen Bell would be better. I really like Ellen Page and I think she acted tremendously in Inception, but I think she would be better for Batgirl. In Inception she played a part similar to Batgirl in a way that she supports the main character and stuff.

I really like the article though and welcome to the site. If you have time I would love to hear what you think about my Batman story. Below is a link to part 2, but inside that there is a link to part 1. I would love to hear what you think.

I can say with all honesty and truth that the above photo of Ellen Page is my favorite still photograph of all time. No joke. I love it so much.
