How will you react to the news of Beware the Batman Censorship?

Variety has apparently reported alterations and censorship to the new show. Still the early reports and a possible change in company policy in regards to the Batman can create concerns or gratitude..

and feeling conflicted over the company responses, maybe we should all share our thoughts to the contact section on the DC comics website. Not as a "kneejerk response" but as a thoughtful un-abrasive letter over these events, whether it is concern or gratitude. I wrote this and I hope those of you who feel as strongly about this write to them too.

Dear DC Entertainment

In light of the tragedy that occurred in Colorado, I and all of my friends in the UK give our deepest sympathies and condolences to all those affected in the state of Colorado. We have felt and at times grieved when we've seen news reports of the survivors and their testimonies. Personally I was quite moved by the young woman whose boyfriend sacrificed himself to protect her, and felt a sense of awe when Christian Bale chose to visit them and the memorial of those who passed. However I've recently read reports that due to these tragic events that you as a company have decided to censor the upcoming show Beware the Batman, is this true? I hope not. Censorship is important and at times a necessary evil, however in this case I do not believe it is. In this case the shootings were premeditated by a lone psychopath with no affiliations to any groups or creeds, he is a troubled mind that chose to use The Dark Knight Rises as a catalyst for his own violent agenda. If you were to delay comics, games, or a TV show as a sign of respect to the people of Colorado.. to allow them to grieve unscrutinised due to tragic parallels to the texts I believe the industry owes you as a company gratitude for your sincerity and your sensitivity.

But I feel that if these events have forced your hand, to censor your works, because a single psychopath chose to use your company's character in a heinous act, I do not think it will amount to anything but make him a legacy that effects generations to come. There are countless violent forms of entertainment currently broadcasting and even more gratuitous video games, Batman Arkham City has far more guns than any cartoon ever will, but I do not feel removing the guns from the upcoming complete edition would would stop someone from playing the Resident Evil or Call of Duty Series and still choosing one of your more prominent characters. Anyway I hope that these recent reports are not true, and if they are please heed my thoughts, my concerns and pass it on to whoever at Warner Brother's it may concern.

Thank You for your time.

Who cares? I can't see how changing the guns in a cartoon will make it any better or worse for that matter. This is a show made for kids. People will complain about the changes now and then when the show comes on they will complain how it sucks. This doesn't matter. The quality Of the show will not be determined by this. I wouldn't even go as far to call this censorship. They are making changes to their product out of sensitivity to what happened in Colorado. This is called editing.

I would agree with BaraclePete. We won't ever know what changes were made. To call it censorship is premature. I believe editing out excessive gun usage in a childrens' show is a step in the right direction. Cartoons don't need to display "realism," which is what they've said they are attempting to edit out.

He trying to say that we can't let him control us. Nolan's films ere about overcoming fear, by all these edits and cancellations we are embracing it. TDKR would have made much more money if we had have said " James Holmes did it in Colorado, I'm in New York im going to see that movie.

WB needs to get their act together. It is admirable to show respect and reverence but the most important factor is that you do not let a tragedy control your decisions. Canceling the international TDKR premieres, pushing back the date for WB's "Gangster Squad", and editing out "realism" from Beware the Bat only shows fear on the part of WB. Move upward and onward!
