As SPIDER-MAN/PETER PARKER, To Set Up
SPIDER-MAN For One Of THE AVENGERS Movies
If DISNEY/MARVEL 'EVER' Get The Rights Back!

I've put this fancast out here quickly 'cause everybody and their dog has
been doing a SPIDER-MAN Fancast and I thought I would throw mine
into the mix!

Now, the new SPIDEY reboot is a high school reboot with a SPIDER-'BOY'
instead of SPIDER-MAN. That's all just fine if they do it right! But to have
LIZARD in it before PETER goes to college is jumping the gun. DR. CURT
CONNORS is PETER'S college professor and CONNORS shouldn't
become LIZARD till PETER is in college.

It's a lame premise for a HIGHSCHOOL SPIDER-MAN! But leave it to
SONY to follow FOX'S suit of screwing with MARVEL CBM'S and screw
with SPIDER-MAN!

I'm not totally against a high school Spidey but putting LIZARD in
here ahead of time is laughably lame! For that one reason I'm passing on
watching the reboot!

But my “MAN-BOOT” has absolutely nothing to do with the
“SPIDER-BOY” reboot or RAIMI'S SPIDER-MAN movies. This is for a
grown, manly SPIDER-MAN! This takes place way after UNCLE BEN
is dead and SPIDER-MAN is the SPIDER-“MAN” of today! That's
why I'm calling it a “'MAN'-BOOT”.

Now I thought the RAIMI SPIDER-MAN movies were pretty top-
notch save for the weird WEB-SHOOTER GLANDS on PETER'S
arms, the gold web-lines on his costume, and the awfully campy,
overblown J. JONAH JAMESON. The over-the-top performance of
J. K. SIMMONS just really irritated me something fierce! I'm sure that's
what RAIMI was aiming for and J. K. did a good job but I prefer a more
serious, realistic J. JONAH JAMESON! NOLAN didn't NEED camp
humor in TDK so why should MARVEL movies have camp in them.

The campiness in PUNISHER: WARZONE ruined the movie for me.
Why is it Hollywood thinks they still have to put cartoonish camp in
CBM'S? I guess they think since their name is “COMIC” book movie
that they have to make CBM'S a “CARTOON”. I would think they
would use TDK as an example and start to make serious realistic
CBM'S.

Even the new GEEN LANTERN movie appears like it has some camp
scenes, like the silly “taking-off-his-pants-with-HAL-pulling-off-his-
belt-scene”. Now, who pulls off their belt when they take off their pants?
I don't know about anyone else but I leave my belt in the loops and on
my pants when I take them off! Camp is not “CREDIBLE” or realism!
It takes me out of the movie!

I want a credible SPIDER-MAN of realism and logic! In my
SPIDER-MAN movie idea I have SPIDER-MAN a grown-up PETER PARKER
with grown-up realistic problems. Also he has web-shooters he
invented with his genius not inherited through mutation.

Like the comic book he asks M.J. To marry him but she feels she isn't ready
to settle down to domestic bliss yet and be in a fully responsible marriage.
Thus she leaves PETER for a career acting in HOLLYWOOD.

Then PETER meets up with FELICIA HARDY/BLACK CAT with her
larcenous ways. In the end she decides, with PARKER'S help,
to become a hero and they start a romance.

But in the mean time a deadly man by the name of SERGEI KRAVENOFF
comes a calling to HUNT down PETER'S professor and friend, DR. CURT
CONNORS, who has begun transforming into the lethal LIZARD.

Now, I don't think this is too many bad guys like RAIMI'S SPIDER-
MAN 3. RAIMI just didn't weave those numerous bad guy's elements
into a cohesive story.
I could easily weave these characters into a cohesive script, I don't
understand how a writer being paid thousand of dollars can't!
Of course, in HOLLYWOOD somehow those high-paid screenwriters
seem quite often to just not be able to do it!

So SPIDEY must save FELICA HARDY from herself and DR. CONNORS
from himself and all of them from that killer, KRAVEN, THE HUNTER!

I entitle my SPIDER-MAN “MAN-BOOT” movie--
“SPIDER-MAN: BEASTS UNLEASHED!”

To me, IAN looks exactly like the comic book grown-up PETER PARKER.
He just has to wear brown contact lenses: PETER PARKER- 5'9”; IAN
SOMERHALDER- 5'9½”.

YVONNE STRAHOVSKI is a dead ringer for the lithe, acrobatic and
bad ass martial artist FELICIA HARDY, BLACK CAT! If YVONNE
doesn't fit FELICIA I'll cut off all my hair...(WHOOPS I already done
that!--LOL)

Along with quite a few other people here I think Jeremy makes a more
realistic CURT CONNORS.

ELENA SATINE is 23 and she plays a woman in her mid to late 20's just
fine.

ROBBIE ROBERTSON is a formidable man himself and much older here
so I thought the older 6'3” RICHARD ROUNDTREE was perfect for this
role.

BETTY BRANT is a beautiful reporter/personal assistant to J. JONAH that
PETER dated at one time so I thought ERICA simply fit here. She needs a new

i think thats the time first time i've seen somerhalder as spidey and i like it very much, and the rest of the cast is good but you deserve some sort of medal for originality for your spidey pick,and the spidey reboot will be amazing :P

I prefer a non-high school SPIDEY, myself.

They changed it to college in the newer comics
why is SONY going backwards for their SPIDERMAN
reboot? It doesn't make sense to go backwards
unless they're telling PARKER'S high school days.

But they're calling this the REAL reboot and that
is just going backasswards! What? Are they going to
have a teenage SPIDERMAN in the AVENGERS when or
if DISNEY/MARVEL ever at least gets the rights back
to put him in the AVENGERS.

Cuz a teenage SPIDER-MAN nowadays is stupid and
lame! PETER'S teen years are loooooong gone! Or
is MARVEL going to start SPIDEY as a comic all
over again?

It's just a lame WHAT-IF-story! LIZARD came later!
To have him in a high school Spidey is incorrect!
Why doesn't anyone see that that is lame? I just
don't get it!

All these teen superhero movies who are now adult
superheroes in the comics is LAME as can be!
What's next a teenage IRON-MAN, CAPTAIN AMERICA,
ETC. it's just bull, corporate movie makers and
their greed! They just want to get the kids in the
seats. I guess adult SUPERHEROES aren't popular
anymore! That's just sad!

DDD- I don't really get the hostility to making Spider-Man a teenager. He was a teenager in the very original comics, that's what made him so interesting. Was that instead of havign ANOTHER big strong man as a superhero they allowed the nerdy geeky kids a shot. So no he's not Spider-Boy, he's Spider-Man. They're sticking closer to the original comics that way.

Also, on the realism. Spoider-Man isn't a realistic character, and the dark and gritty thing doesn't work for every superhero. Spider-Man's one of them. He's a fun loving guy, he's bright and colorful and I wouldn#'t have it any other way. It can still be dramatic and have depth but it doesn't need to be 'realistic'.

Besides that though the cast is very good. I really don't have a problem with any of them.

ANDREW GARFIELD. But I have a lot against
SONY and their going backwards.

They're just jumping on the FIRST CLASS
bandwagon. Now all of a sudden every
Superhero has to be a teenager!.

They've already established that PETER was in college
not high school. They're just going back to
time when Spiderman was a teenager and doing things a
teenager wouldn't do, which don't happen in real life!

It slipped by in the 60's but it doesn't ring
true nowadays! It's a lame idea to have Spidey
fighting older super-baddies while he ordinarily
would be in school!

The 60's stories were different than the ULTIMATE
SPIDEY stories, where Spidey is a realistic teenager
fighting realistic foes!

SPIDER-MaN is a man nowadays.

I'm not entirely hostile to a high school
SPIDER-MAN beginning, if that is where the whole
world started it.

But that high school thing was long gone for a
long time. Now suddenly everybody wants to bring
it back and act like nobody moved on a long time
ago! He's been established as older for a long
time now, a very long time!

Why go backwards to the 1960's! Not all superhero
movies need to be dark like TDK but they must be
credible and have realism or their credibility
falters and they are silly and unreal to a fault!

dude the reason spideys such a big hit and important to me was the fact that he was the first TEEN superhero NOT sidekick, and whats wrong with a teen trying to be an adult, i am not trying to be rude but it seem like you have something against teens, and the whole idea of spidermans unrealistic, and the X-Men started of at teens,but what ever dude great cast once again

1 - I see you've taken a page out of MarvelCinematicUniverse's book of doing a film centered around Peter's adulthood. Ian Somerholder seems too suave and handsome to play Spidey, but he can play another Pete: Pete Wisdom. He practically has the looks.

2 - I believe it was "The Spectacular Spider-Man" where we saw Curt Connors while Pete was in high school, so maybe they're taking a page out of that.

3 - Clancey Brown is too typecast as JJ. How about my choice on my Spider-Man fan cast, Richard Dean Anderson? And Oleg Taktarov as Kraven the Hunter.

4 - Elena Satine, while too white-faced, is really hot. The boobs are spectacular. But I can live with Emma Stone playing Gwen Stacy, seeing as though she was Peter's first love.

5 - Erica Durance would be better off as Alpha Flight agent Vindicator. I read both biographies for the actress and the character, and they're both from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I think Zooey Deschanel will do fine IF she accepts to job offer.

6 - Ooh, Shaft as Robbie Robertson? Big ups.

Overall, not a bad cast. You should do another "Alpha Flight" or a "Civil War" fan cast next. Try something new for a change.

and the reason they want to go back is to bring in a new generation of audiences who can relate to spidey, and anyways i heard couple of months ago that it MOST likely wont be set in high school anymore as they think garfield dosent look that young so its going to be set in college which makes sense with rhys ifans being cast as connors

Just a more credible alternative after everybody
gets the high school teenage bug out of their
system. An older SPIDEY fancast!

Isn't anybody reading the whole damm thing!
It doesn't sound like it to me! Do me the respect

ROADDOG@@, there is nothing wrong with CLANCY BROWN
as J.J.J.! I haven't seen him used very much myself!

He fits the bill just as good as Simmons.
There is a reason CLANCY has been cast here a lot...he
fits the bill! That's not typecasting! I've never seen
CLANCY as a newspaper editor before but I know he
can do Jameson well, I just do, and he looks like
Jameson. You're argument there doesn't hold water!
CLANCY is an excellent character actor who can play
almost anything! Have you seen RICHARD DEAN ANDERSON
lately, he doesn't act anymore. He's huge and fat and very
old looking, with a fat puffy face! That ain't
J.J. JAMESON.

Look at the artist's rendition I used for PARKER.
IAN looks exactly like that illustration. And Ian
can play anything. I've seem him play other parts
besides suave and sophisticated. Everybody else
seems to want to cast ugly nerds as PETER. Well
Andrew Garfield ain't ugly at all! But he doesn't
look like Peter Parker to me at all. By the way,
Peter is good-looking, he just happens to also be
a genius nerd too! Not all nerds are homely!

Erica Durance is perfect for the go-getter BETTY
BRANT! She looks very similar to the illustration
I used. Vindicator has red hair and looks nothing
like ERICA!

You say I should do somethig new and then you say
for me to do something I've already done before!
WTF?

I've never done a fancast like this, of PETER when he's the
old Pete of nowadays! NEVER!
WTF?

And where do you get off telling me what I should do for a

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Don't get angry at me. I wasn't busting on your cast.

Okay, I also didn't even know Richard Dean Anderson got a little fat. I'm just saying I saw him on Stargate SG-1, and I thought his character reminded me of J.J. Jameson.

As for Durance, I'd like to see her do a superhero role instead of something like Betty Brant.

Just calm down and count to 100. And check out my Daredevil cast.

My greatest apologies! It was a senior moment!
DAMM!

Plus I meant no offense to teenage people when I
said SPIDEY was unrealistic as a teenager. He of
course started out that way in the beginning!!

It's just the world has seen SPIDEY as a college
guy working for THE BUGLE as a young adult for a
long time now, through a TV series, TV movies, and
Raimi's movies! A long time.

It seems unrealistic for Peter to go back to high
school now! They shouldn't call this a reboot.
It's Spidey's high school days! And LIZARD was
never there for a long long time in the comics
until PETER made it to college!

RAIMI'S movies treated SPIDEY pretty good!

Just because he lost his rocker and SONY had to replace
him doesn't mean they have to scrap Raimi's SPIDER-MAN
entirely.

But I like Garfield just fine for a college PETER!
He's actually a quite good actor!
He was good in THE SOCIAL NETWORK!

I have nothing against a high school
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN and I've never said that before!

I just think that since Spider-man has been
made an older guy for a long time now that SONY is
making a mistake to go backwards. Just because
FOX is ruining the X-men with their inane
FIRST CLASS movie doesn't mean SONY should
follow suit with SPIDEY!

But that is only my opinion!

mind criticisms when they make sense. But hardly

I try to stay rational and logical and I surely didn't
mean to offend the teenage members here (of which there
are a lot here.) I used to be a teenager myself,
believe it or not, it doesn't seem like that long ago! LOL

I know where teens are coming from. I'm very glad
that Ultimate teen Spidey got you interested in comics!
I'm not against a teenage Spidey at all, per say!

I just don't think a REBOOT should be a teen Spidey.
Now a movie, like FIRST CLASS should've been, that's
about Spidey's high school beginnings would be cool.
But there should not be any grown-up bad guy superheroes in
the movie who are from Spidey's college and later years!
That doesn't make any sense!

I should have picked my words better when trying to explain
myself! I dropped the ball there, fer cryin' out loud! Now
I've gone and offended half the ppl on here when I never

I've changed my words to what I was attempting,
poorly, to say about Spidey's teen years. I was
talking about some of the 60's stories that were
unrealistic for a teenager!

Teen superheroes are cool! I've said that before on
here! The Ultimate teen Spidey was very well done
and nothing like the 6o's teen Spidey!

I never said having a teen version of Spidey was ever
bad before this! But SONY is bad to retract and reboot
SPIDERMAN as a teenager now unless it's the seperate
teen Sidey years and not a reboot of Spider-MAN!

DDD: I read your fancast and I agree the
late 90's till now Spidey has been a grown man
he's even dropped the dorky look.

Now Peter has the girl,career,and he's
matured in his look. No more does he
look like the 98lb weakling with his
wide framed wire rim glasses as Parker
the science nerd.

Now he has the stylish
haircuts and clothes fit to being linked
up with his model\actress girlfriend\wife.

I also agree that all the campiness kills
some movies for me as well. You can make a
bright,light hearted,upbeat movie without
all the campiness or atleast tone it down
considerably.

So this fancast supports all the things you
mention leading up to your cast and I UNDER-
STAND where your going with MAN-BOOT.

I as well thought we covered Spidey younger
days in SPIDERMAN and SPIDEY2 why rehash it.
Like you've mention I havent picked up a comic
in the last 20yrs where they've focused on
SPIDEY being a teenager.

I have teens of my own so Im not anti-teen
but let's move on with SPIDEY let's explore
the man-boot and from flashback moment's
Peter can recall what it was like adjusting to
his new powers...now we're all getting what we
want..WHEW!!!LOL

I like the SPIDEY pick I thought Toby acted the
part great,but I didnt like his look because
like I stated earlier it just seems to be Peter
doesnt look geeky anymore to me..I COULD BE WRONG.

Butler as KRAVEN THE HUNTER to me is the best of
the whole cast...EXCELLENT I can definetly see
him owning that role!!!

I also like the Aunt May,Mary Jane,and
Robbie Robertson. The Aunt May is almost
a identical twin and Roundtree would do
a fine job as Robertson. Im not really
sure about MJ I like her look, but Im
afraid I know nothing about her acting
skills.

Brown as Jameson should be fine, but to
be honest I didnt mind the guy playing
him in the first three movies. He fit
the comics to a T to me he's way over
the top in the comics so I thought it
fit in the movies for him as well.

GREAT FANCAST and I like your reasoning
about the MAN-BOOT.

Interesting Cast. I certainly love the idea of a Spider-Man movie rather than the Ultimate movie I think we are going to get.

Plenty of people are not happy about the reboot DDD. You are nowhere near alone on that one.

Since I know I will be skipping the movie I have come to hope that it is indeed a full-on Ultimate Spider-Man movie. At least those people who love that version of Spidey would get what they really want. Sad for me but I think I can get over it. *grins*

Exactly! You said it more eloquently and
precise than my feeble attempt earlier!

I thought I made it very clear to everybody
right at the start of this fancast tho', that
this had nothing to do with the new teen
Spidey or Raimi's version. I don't understand
the anger at my fancast?

This wasn't an anti-teen fancast at all!
There are tons of teen superheroes and I
like most of them. I don't do very many
teen fancasts cuz I don't know very many
of the teen actors nowadays to put in a
teen character fancast. I leave that to
the younger members here. They've done
some fine young-character casts here.

BLADE@, I put CLANCY in here as JAMESON cuz
I was trying to cast different than Raimi's
cast! I thought Simmons did the exact job Raimi
wanted him to do and he was great! I said that.

I just don't like campiness in a CBM at all!
I don't know why 'COMIC' means 'CARTOON' to
Hollywood but it seems to. I thought that went
out of style in the 80's. Superheroes aren't
cartoons! That's, in my way of thinking anyway.

Comic books got there name from when they were mostly
cartoon books but superheroes came and they weren't
comic books at all. I like the better term,
GRAPHIC NOVEL.

There's no reason comedy shouldn't be in a CBM
but CAMP humor is a total different thing. It's
cartoonish and over-the-top and not 'CREDIBLE'
at all. There's a way to have comedic touches
without out-and-out silly camp.

But Hollywood seems to still think ppl want camp
in their 'COMIC' book superhero movies. I surely
don't!

i dont know Davies and im not sure about Durrance but wow. from the perfect adult Spidey and Blackcat to the JJ you dont wanna cross and the villain who will tear you a new one this is a great cast . itll be a challenge to compete with this

now i do think Spidey-high school is the way to go. even with the reboot just to emphisize that its not a continuation if they were to cast Spidey-Avenger your lookin at my vote

SONY is not trying to make art as a SPIDEY
movie but just a crass commercial teen
version. At least Raimi's movies were artistic!
But Raimi is an artist director not just a hack!
I don't know why he went looney with the VULTURE
& VULTURETTE! That's just plain stupid!

I would hope that the new teen Spidey would be a
seperate ULTIMATE one too and there would be
realistic teen situations for Spidey and foes to
battle. But for SPIDER-MAN to have LIZARD in a high
school Ultimate version is wronger than rain!
IT JUST SIMPLY IS!

And if SPIDEY is indeed going to be set in
college now then what SONY is doing now is a
damm travesty! What's the point? To just trash
what RAIMI'S already done with the superior
SPIDERMAN 1 & 2. That's just underhanded and
dastardly!

If they're going to replace RAIMI as director
at least say they are doing that and go on
with SPIDEY as we know him from here!

Or if they are doing an ULTIMATE Spidey then
do that and make it a credible ULTIMATE teen
high school SPIDER-MAN with credible teen
situations. I said at the beginning of my
fancast here that I don't mind if they do that,
just do it right!

been saying if GL fails I think Reynolds
will have alot to do with it!!

I don't mind actually if they started Spidey
in high school with his high school days
adventures with GWEN but LIZARD doesn't belong
there at all!!! That is totally rewriting...let
me emphasize that...REWRITING Spidey history
COMPLETELY! "WROOOOONG"!!!!! Now that angers me
immensely!

Anybody else but Peter's college professor in
Peter's high school years! That is just utterly
asinine!

If GL fails it will be because
they wrote Hal too far over-the-top
and had REYNOLDS act too campy!

I don't think it's going to completely
fail tho'! But I would have liked someone
else for HAL, myself!

Ibz@, yeah, that's what I thought!
Ian looks exactly like peter in a lot
of illustrations. Heck Ian looks young
enough to even start him in college in
a REAL REBOOT! Then jump him to nowadays.
