“SWAMP THING” FANCAST FROM DDD!!!

Here's The Next Casting In My Horror-based CBM Fancasts.....
The Chlorophyloid Creepy Creature From The Bayou:
“SWAMP THING”!

By DDD - Nov 13, 2010 06:11 AM EST

Ya know, I'm mainly a MARVEL-MAN but there are several DC characters
I like too! One of those that I REALLY enjoy is SWAMP THING! I like him
better than MAN-THING! To me he has always been more seriously scary
and cringe-ably creepy than MAN-THING, even tho' I do love MARVEL'S
grungy green giant VERY much!

Photobucket

Now I'm talking about the original drawn by the eerie artist, BERNIE
WRIGHTSON and written by the legendary LEN WEIN. It only ran 24
issues but man did it have a downright dark & dreary atmosphere!
It's first issue came out NOVEMBER, 1972:

Photobucket

Photobucket

But 'a' Swamp Thing was actually first introduced in JULY, 1971 , in a
comic by the name of “THE HOUSE OF SECRETS”, #92. I love those old HOUSE
OF SECRETS books. I happen to be fortunate enough to own an issue of
this very comic book. It was written by none other than LEN WEIN.
It's story goes:
“LINDA OLSON, recently remarried to her late husband ALEX'S lab
assistant, DAMIAN, is unaware DAMIAN is plotting to kill her. But
DAMIAN nor LINDA are aware that THEY are being watched-- by the
SWAMP THING!
(By the way-'COOL FACT'-- The model for LINDA OLSON pictured on the
cover was none other than LOUISE SIMONSON, WALT SIMONSON'S wife
and sometimes co-writer.)

Photobucket

Now the origin story for the ALEC HOLLAND “SWAMP THING” has
ALEC HOLLAND and his wife, LINDA, being set up in a secret lab of the
government's out in the LOUISIANA swamp, THE BAYOU, to do
experiments for a bio-restorative formula that would solve any nation's
food shortage. They finally are successful at inventing it but a shady
corporation owner & CEO, NATHAN ELLERY, gets wind of it. He comes
with thugs to try and steal the formula from the HOLLANDS and the
government and they set a bomb. Doused with the formula's chemicals in
the massive fire, ALEC runs on fire and falls into the waters of the muck-
filled swamp.
Some time later a huge plant-like humanoid creature appears. HOLLAND
has mutated into a massive muck-encrusted mockery of a man, SWAMP
THING!

My movie idea here starts similar but I compressed the first 10-issues into a
concise story.

Photobucket

Photobucket

In the original story, the head agent at the lab, MATTHEW CABLE,
manages to rescue LINDA HOLLAND from the burning facility and they
come back out days later to the destroyed lab to try and see if any of
the formula survived the flames. ELLERY is there for the same reason and his
thugs kill LINDA. SWAMP THING/ALEC bursts forth from the bog in a rage
and kills all of ELLERY'S thugs and ELLERY as well. CABLE thinks SWAMP THING
is the cause of LINDA'S death and vows to hunt him down and destroy him!

My story continues from there as SWAMPY wakes up in the night in the
swamp as an airplane screams across the full moon-lit night sky and crashes
into the bog a ways off from him. He rushes through the dark mire to the
wreckage and discovers the grisly remains of the passengers in the passenger
compartment. They have all been ripped to shreds like they were torn apart
by vicious animals. But the pilot's body is mysteriously missing from his seat.
The airplane's door has been ripped off it's hinges.

Cut to a man in a pilot's jacket in early morning coming from the swamp up
to an old creepy house, sitting there in the BAYOU. He knocks tentatively on
the door and a hand from behind him grabs his shoulder. He jumps away
from it, startled, and whirls around. It's an older man with long hair and
mustache and a shotgun. He asks “THE PILOT”, “Can I help you young
man?” The pilot replies, “My airplane crashed out in the bog and all my
passengers were killed but me.” The Old Bayou man tells his wife to come on
out and help him with the poor young man! The pilot tells them his name is
SEAN O'SHANEY (My play of words on the renowned werewolf/monster movie star,
LON CHANEY JR.--LOL).
The old Bayou man says he is going into town for their monthly supplies, the
next day, and the young pilot can stay with them till tomorrow when he will
take him into town.

The sun is going down when SWAMP THING/ALEC arrives at the Bayou
Couple's rustic house. He hides in the shadows concealing himself from the
occupants of the house as he spies on them. The young man and the couple
are eating together in the dining area. Suddenly the pilot says he doesn't feel
too well and heads to the their bathroom. He sits down on the pot and starts
to sweat profusely and shake! The couple are now in their living room when
suddenly a lot of loud noise erupts inside the bathroom, like someone is
tearing the place apart. Abruptly the bathroom door erupts from the
doorway and slams into the hall-wall. The couple turns to the sound when of-
a-sudden a big snarling werewolf appears in the entrance-way from the hall
to the living room. The woman screams and the man hollers, both cringing
in abject terror!

Wham! SWAMP THING explodes through the front door into the living room!
He slams into the WEREWOLF as they tumble across the floor, chunks of fur
& vegetation flying about. The old couple holler in abject fear again! SWAMP
THING hurls the werewolf out through where the front door used to be and
into the yard. They fight ferociously for quite some time until the
WEREWOLF whimpers and runs off, bleeding badly, into the night swamp!

Photobucket

SWAMPY looks back at the couple with eyes and facial expressions of caring
and concern for them yet abject sadness!
The lady says, who was that? The old man replies, You mean WHAT was
that? The lady states, no, WHO was that? His eyes were so sorrowful yet he
saved our very lives from whatever that other thing was!

The story continues with ANTON ARCANE coming to the swamp with his
monstrous UN-MEN (They're unsuccessful attempts of ARCANE trying to make a
better body for his soul to be transferred into.).

Photobucket

They take SWAMP THING captive and bring him to an old run-down
Mansion out in the Bayou. ARCANE says he's been looking for a sturdy body
to necromantically transfer his soul into from his old decrepit body.
ARCANE has also brought his niece, ABIGAIL ARCANE, with him. But he
keeps her virtually a prisoner. Thus SWAMPY must battle ARCANE and his
malformed monstrosities to save his life of-a-sorts and free the sad beautiful
maiden all-the-while as AGENT CABLE tries to vengefully hunt his poor misshapen
ass down!
WILL SWAMP THING FIND LOVE AMONGST ALL THE MAYHEM???

I think my story has everything a SWAMP THING movie should have...
his origin, an evil CORPORATE CEO, a vengeful government agent, a
damsel-in-distress, a Werewolf, Frankensteinian Monstrosities, and a
powerful Mad-Doctor/Sorcerer! It would be epic and I would dare say
way better than the one Joe Silver is doing! I don't TRUST Hollywood
and WARNERS/DC at ALL! Mine would be a deadly serious SWAMP
THING! NO CAMP!
It would be a moody, darkly-lit tribute to the UNIVERSAL Monsters
of that bygone time! Yet with complete realism.

MY SWAMP THING MOVIE FANCAST:

Photobucket

When I chose the eerily beautiful ANNA PAQUIN as ABBY ARCANE I
felt it was only natural to bring in her new husband and co-star of
cable TV'S “TRUE BLOOD”, the amazing British actor STEPHEN MOYER
as ALEC. He won't be in there very long.

ALEC HOLLAND: STEPHEN MOYER

Photobucket

You need a huge guy who is also an excellent actor to play the role of
SWAMP THING, who must use his body, eyes and face to express
SWAMPY'S feelings and thoughts. SWAMP THING can't talk.

SWAMP THING: KEVIN DURAND

Photobucket

Photobucket

To give a feeling of how big KEVIN really is, here is a photo of him with a
normal-sized actor. Oh, he's big!

Photobucket

ANNA PAQUIN has this weird feeling and eerie beauty on TRUE BLOOD,
thus she would just be perfection as the strange yet gorgeous ABIGAIL
ARCANE. It's not the first time she's had a role where a streak of some
other color was in her hair! LOL Plus this takes place in a southern swamp,
kind of like her TV show!

ABIGAIL “ABBY” ARCANE: ANNA PAQUIN

Photobucket

OH, MY!!! lol

2B-ABIGAIL ARCANE-PAQUIN SW2B

I'm not trying to do a TRUE BLOOD” casting of SWAMP THING here, it's
just that these actors have all worked together so well for quite some time.
It just seems natural to me... uhmmm... maybe SUPERNATURAL is more accurate!
I tell you, their acting together seems very magical, that's for sure!

MATTHEW CABLE: RYAN KWANTEN

Photobucket

I simply think MALIN would be great as ALEC'S scientist wife, LINDA.

LINDA HOLLAND: MALIN AKERMAN

Photobucket

These two ol' character-actors are scary good! Scaaary!

OLDER BAYOU MAN & WIFE: BRAD DOURIF, AMY MADIGAN

Photobucket

VILLAINS:

Come on, look at the pictures! Bill 'IS' Anton Arcane!

ANTON ARCANE: BILL NIGHY

Photobucket

Another perfect fit, to me!

NATHAN ELLERY: ROBERT KNEPPER

Photobucket

JASON already played a WEREWOLF and this would be kind of a cool
in-joke. I thought he was great in SKINWALKERS!

SEAN O'SHANEY/WEREWOLF: JASON BEHR

Photobucket

DU-U-U-UH!!!

CRANIUS, PSYCHIC UN-MAN LEADER: CGI + JOHN HURT (VOICE)

Photobucket

I thought I would name these guys myself since the writers didn't.
I used Latin to go along with the Latin-- CRANIUS.
JONES, ANOTHER DU-U-U-UH!!!

VASTUS, GIGANTIC UN-MAN: NATHAN JONES

Photobucket

He is the little nebbish monster who acts as CRANIUS' body when they're
disguised in a trench coat and hat as 'one' person.
ANDY, LAST BUT NOT LEAST...DU-U-U-UH!!! lol

BREVUS, LITTLE UN-MAN: CGI + ANDY SERKIS

Once again...your not right you
know that right?lol Im not a Swamp
Thing fan nor Man-thing but you
do such good work thought I'd stop
by.

First off I noticed you got alot of
Trueblood characters on here...it works
Moyer is creepy and he and Paquin have
bonded well on film and off I see.

Paquin face leaves alot to be desired
but she does have something about her
besides that AMAZING BODY!!! She'd own
that role she's good at southern just
keep her away from main character hero
roles.

Behr was pretty good in Skinwalkers so
Im sure he'd do well in a similar role.

Nate Jones certainly looks the part and
Im thinking alot of acting isnt required
for this role so he should rock it.

Kwantee finally gets to play a real cop
lol on trueblood he's kinda funny wearing
the badge.

Like I mentioned before Im not much of a fan, but
I am famaliar with the character and I dig this
cast.. once again bud nice job!!

Cool cast! Love your villain choices.
Specially John Hurt.

I think Alexander Skarsgård or Mads Mikkelsen would be great as Alec Holland!:) I would love to see Mads finally play a good guy! Mads would be great as the Swamp Thing too. Thou it would need some CGI to make it happen, but he could totally pull it off.

Thanx BLADE, BUD!

Yup, I'm quite aware that I isn't quite right!
LOL Hey it's a dirty job but someone's gotta be
"NOT QUITE RIGHT"! It might as well be me!
Mwah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I got three TRUE BLOOD ppl in here...well,
I started out with ANNA as ABBY, then MOYER seemed
like a natural to be added briefly as ALEC, & lastly
it seemed, to take that natural idea forward, that RYAN
just seemed to fit as MATT CABLE. I didn't start
out to use all these TRUE BLOOD-ITES but they just
seemed to fall in line after I chose ANNA PAQUIN.

Yeah, the giant UN-MAN can't talk, he's just there
to be the main Un-man to take SWAMPY down! Thus I
figured NATHAN would be just perfect, big & creepy,
even bigger than KEVIN as SWAMPY.
There's a ton of Un-men who help capture poor SWAMP
THING. Abby helps free SWAMP THING so that's why he
takes her with him to escape her evil uncle ANTON'S clutches.

My story is a little bit different than the comics
but I think it makes more sense than ARCANE and his
UN-MEN taking SWAMP THING clear to TRANSYLVANIA.

It would keep the SWAMP THING in the creepy southern
swampland where he belongs. I love the eerie
atmosphere of the dark dank LOUISIANA BAYOU and an
ancient moody massive SOUTHERN MANSION!
BLADE4040
BLADE4040 - 11/13/2010, 5:52 PM
DDD: Several years ago I did my JUNGLE TRAINING
at Fort Benning,Ga in the swamp next to a spot
named GATOR POND...famous for their GATOR population.

So I know a little something about the eerie
swamp land...too bad I didnt get a chance to
run into the SWAMP or MAN THING!! I'd probally
would've pumped them full of 7.6MM rounds lol.
DDD
DDD - 11/13/2010, 5:56 PM
Thanks ALEX@!

Yeah, Mads Mikkelsen would make a great ALEC HOLLAND.
And they certainly could CGI him as the huge SWAMP
THING creature. He would pull off the speechless
monster exceedingly well.

But I like to use as little CGI as possible so I went
with a huge actor for SWAMPY, KEVIN DURAND, who I
think would convey SWAMP THING'S wordless expressions
extremely well, himself!

Yeah ALEX@, John Hurt as the voice of the creepy
little brain with a face and a hand grafted to him
for mobility, I thought, was a duh casting! LOL
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 11/13/2010, 6:06 PM
EXCELLENT @ DDD!!! :)

Wish your pictures didn't take forever to load tho lol! : P

I've got that issue number one!

LOVE EM ALL DUDE... well bar DURRAND, he's too perfect for LOBO!

Still as long as its just the body suit then cool lol!

Wicked stuff dude all thumbs up!
DDD
DDD - 11/13/2010, 6:29 PM
BLADE@,

Ha ha ha! That's so cool that you've been in the
southern swamp! You know exactly what I'm talking
about then!

Yup, if you'd a seen ol' SWAMPY you would have
tore him a new butthole with yer BFG! LOL
(Uh, btw, I wonder if ol' SWAMPY actually has a
butthole?--Oh, geez! fergit I ever mentioned that!)
LMAO

I only made it as far as EAST TEXAS, near LOUISIANA,
with some friends on a camping trip to Texas one
time. I lived in TUSCON, ARIZONA at the time.

We had a tent city beside a swampy little lake so I
know what the southern swamp is like too, first
hand.

One of my friends killed a copperhead snake by the
lake by whacking off it's head with his machete in
one fell swoop, as it was striking at him! He was
very fortunate he didn't get bit. I think his fear-
adrenalin helped with the force, quickness and
accuracy of his blow! LOL

He kept the head and man was it huge and scary-
looking! The snake was BIG! I would've thought
it would be a COTTONMOUTH instead of a COPPERHEAD
that would be by the lake but it indeed was a
copperhead with it's orange markings.

The swamp is really a dangerous place in more ways than one! LOL
DDD
DDD - 11/13/2010, 6:39 PM
Thanks Leee@!

I want KEVIN for LOBO too!
But I thought KEVIN would
be nearly unrecognizable in
the SWAMP THING prosthetics!
Thus he could play both LOBO
& SWAMP THING!

He's 6'6", big & scary!
I got NATHAN JONES as the even
more gigantic
UN-MAN, he's 7'!

Man, what a cool on-screen fight
it would be between NATE & KEVIN
in their respective roles!
I'd buy that fer a dollar! LOL

AlexDeLarge87
AlexDeLarge87 - 11/13/2010, 6:41 PM
Durand is definitely a guy, who finally deserves a lead role and Swamp Thing is definitely the one he would own! He would be great as Lobo too!:)

Leee@ sorry about the slow-loading!

I guess I made some of the posters too big
cuz they got reduced to a small size anyway!
Doh!
Still trying to figure out what sizes to make

Whoops!

DDD: What, no obligatory Adrien Barbo appearance?

Great stuff my man!;P
DDD
DDD - 11/14/2010, 4:50 AM
Thanks Tea@!

I love the genre too, immensely!
But I already knew you was a
monster-lover like me! No sexual
innuendo meant there! LOL

That's the first ever bums-up
I've ever gotten! I may shed a tear!
LMAO!
DDD
DDD - 11/14/2010, 5:08 AM
HAWKS@ Nope, no Adrien in this one!

I thought about mentioning the old
movies and TV show but I really wanted
to concentrate on just the original 24
comic issues this time and my own casting
here!

Tho' I've got tons of pictures and info
about the 80's movies and TV show I could
have used but my fancast would have turned
into a novel! Geez
It already takes forever to load for some
ppl! LOL

But I really like to inform ppl with
my silly little fancasts.
:D

The whole time I was doing this thing I
kept thinking that I wouldn't mind taking
a whack at playing the big ugly green guy.
I already got the bald pate and 6'6" height!
That don't mean ima kinda disturbed does it???
LOL--I mean I think I kinda fit the bill purty
good!
DDD
DDD - 11/14/2010, 9:04 AM
Intruder@ Thanks a lot!

Man, I wouldn't want to work for FOX!
They wouldn't let me do anything the
way I wanted to. They would force me
to do it their way of inaccuracy and
stupidity!

If I was a wealthy guy I would produce
SWAMP THING myself so it would get done
according to the accuracy of the overall
story. But DC has control of all that!

Damm, I wish DISNEY would hurry up
and get the Marvel rights back from FOX
somehow! Oh well, a man can dream!

DDD@ Wow. What an amazing job. I did a Swamp Thing cast several months ago but you blew it out of the water dude! This is just awesome! So well done. Plus Durrand is the only guy I would pick for ST. Especially after his performane in "Legion". The man is a beast and has a great voice for the character. I can't argue with any of your choices here at all.

Thumbs up!
DDD
DDD - 11/17/2010, 11:26 PM
Thanks Romack@ Thanks mightily!
I think I missed your SWAMP THING fancast or it's
been too long for me to remember! LOL

Swamp Thing is one of the top most comic book
characters for me and I wanted to do him justice
with a fancast!

I was working on this thing for a long long time
now! Wanted to get it right and strove to truly
make it a work of art in and of itself.

Yup, Durand is a beast and plays beast men very
well! LOL
DDD
DDD - 11/17/2010, 11:30 PM
Thank You Anil@!

Yes, Paquin and Durand would be phenomenal
together as these characters, I think!

What a strange and haunting love story
these two characters present!
