Fancast: Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy

This is my fancast for the Star Wars prequels.

First of all, this is for fun. And second of all, I hope you all think that this cast is an improvement of George Lucas's cast. But in my honest opinion, everyone who starred in the prequels can act (with the exception of Hayden Christensen).

Anyway, on with the cast:

Heroes:

Kodi Smit-McPhee (younger) and Nicholas Hoult (older) as Anakin Skywalker: A young slave on the planet of Tatooine who is destined to be the one to bring balance to the Force.

Reason for Casting: McPhee was impressive in "The Road" and "Let Me In". Hoult, on the otherhand, is a brilliant actor. I loved him in "About a Boy", "Skins", and "A Single Man".

Jennifer Lawrence as Padmé Amidala: The Queen of Naboo and a senator on the Galactic Senate. She is Anakin's love interest.

Reason for Casting: She was brilliant in "Winter's Bone". And I know that some people will be pointing out that she and Hoult are having a romance in "X-Men: First Class". I am aware of this, but I want to cast these two in the role.

Tom Hardy as Obi Wan Kenobi: A Jedi Knight who is a general in the Clone Wars and Anakin's master.

Reason for Casting: On a side note, Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan Kenobi was the only thing good about the prequels. Anyway, Hardy was impressive in "Inception" and his role as Eames had the vibe I was looking for when casting Obi Wan.

Viggo Mortensen as Qui-Gon Jinn: Obi Wan's former master, who found Anakin on Tattooine and develops a bond with him. He believes Anakin to be the chosen one.

Reason for Casting: Nobody can be as awesome as Liam Neeson, but Viggo Mortensen is an awesome actor and could bring more to the role of Qui-Gon.

Idris Elba as Mace Windu: A Jedi Master who serves on the Jedi Council.

Reason for Casting: Idris is a brilliant actor, and the first person I thought of when casting Windu.

Tilda Swinton as Shmi Skywalker: Anakin's mother who simply became pregnant with him.

Reason for Casting: She was impressive in "Adaptation" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".

Sacha Baron Cohen as Jar-Jar Binks: A clumsy Gungan who helps Queen Amidala, Qui-Gon, and Obi-Wan escape Naboo after it is invaded by the Trade Federation.

Reason for Casting: I know that almost everyone on this site hates Jar Jar with a passion, but in this version of the trilogy, Jar-Jar is suppose to be the comic relief. And Sacha Baron Cohen is frakkin' hilarious.

Villains:

Eric Bana as Darth Maul: The apprentice of Darth Sidious, a Sith Lord whom the Jedi thought they had killed thousands of years ago. He wields a double bladed lightsaber.

Reason for Casting: He played a brilliant villain in "Star Trek" and he showed off martial arts skills in "Hanna".

Alan Rickman as Count Dooku: A former Jedi Master who trained Qui-Gon Jinn, now the leader of the Separatist movement. He goes by the name of Darth Tyrannus and is responsible for the lost of Anakin's right arm.

Reason for Casting: The guy played an excellent villain in "Die Hard". He would be great in this role.

Gary Oldman (voice) as General Grievious: The four armed Cyborg leader of the Separatist's Droid army. He is skilled in lightsaber dueling, having collected lightsabers from various Jedi he killed.

Reason for Casting: He's Gary Frakkin' Oldman!!! He can play anything!!!

Stellan Skarsgård as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine: The Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, who is secretly a evil Sith Lord named Darth Sidious.

Reason for Casting: The guy was impressive in "Breaking the Waves" and "Angels & Demons".

Oscar Isaacs as Jango Fett: A bounty hunter who gives his DNA to be used to create a clone army for the Republic. He secretly works for the Separatist movement.

Reason for Casting: He was great in "Sucker Punch" and "Robin Hood".

Noomi Rapace as Zam Wessell: A shapshifting bounty hunter who attempts to assasinate Padmé, but is foiled by Obi-Wan and Anakin. She is assinated by Jango Fett, before she can reveal any information.

Reason for Casting: She was frakking brillaint in "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo".

its funny cause Oldman tried pretty damn hard to play greivous, he even sent Lucas a recording of his voice. So this kinda strike me humurous

@ Mr BlueSky

I was hoping that you would cast Alex Pettyfer as older Anakin Skywalker, but I am alright with Nicholas Hoult playing an older Anakin Skywalker

Kodi-Smit McPhee as a younger Anakin, I definitely agree

Jennifer Lawrence as Padme, love that choice

Tom Hardy as Obi-Wan, the greatest choice for Obi-Wan, not that I think that Ewan McGregor was a bad Obi-Wan, he was the best Obi-Wan, but if anything if there was anyone to replace him, Tom Hardy would be it

Viggo Mortensen as Qui-Gon Jinn, pretty awesome choice there

Idris Elba as Mace Windu, perfect choice to replace Samuel L Jackson, Idris is the man

Tilda Swinton as Shmi, perfect choice

The only choice I wasn't fond of was Sacha Baron Cohen as Jar Jar, that I definitely disagree with

But Eric Bana as Darth Maul, definitely agree with this choice, he would be a bad-ass Darth Maul, and especially after the villain he played in Star Trek, I am sure he would have no problem playing Darth Maul

Rickman as Dooku, great choice, provided Rickman he would have to grow a full beard like Christopher Lee

Gary Oldman would make the best Grevious, he would own in the role

Palpatine, I disagree open-heartedly about this choice, if anything I would cast Malcolm McDowell in the role of Palpatine/Darth Sidious, to me McDowell he would shine in that role

Your Jango Fett, great choice

Your Zam Wessell, another great choice

Altogether this cast out of 10, for me, gets a 8 out of 10

@karynPftw

Thanks!!

@TheGoddamnSuperman

George Lucas failed hard when he didn't get Gary as Grievous (It would of made up for the casting of Hayden Christensen).

@Shadow11

8 out of 10!! That's not bad.

@ager

Thanks!! I like to be diverse in my casting choices.

I like your casting especially Tom Hardy n Idris Elba as Obi-Wan n Mace Windu you forgot Yoda but it cool Mr.BluSky I liked the reference to Hayden Christensen because he was AWEFUL!!! on the prequels I still wanted Nick Stahl to be Anakin but NO!! Lucas thought Hayden would've been better happy now George. Still AWESOME cast man I'll watch it if they made the prequels like this.

If you like The Clone Wars series I post an article while back it's good called 14 things I want t see on season 4 of Star Wars the Clone Wars if you like the KOTR era you'll like it.

You're casting would be fine say if you wanted to have a reboot every three years.

Hayden played anakin who was well on the way to darth vader not a typical person in the star wars universe, due to that if you watch his acting again you can see that level of evil bubbling at the surface, as for palpatine, he was one of the actors to be in all 6 movies.

there really was no need for this, i stand by all casting for all star wars related media.

Thanks!!

@CG21

I personally thought Charlie Hunnam would be a good Anakin Skywalker (go check out his work in "Cold Mountain").

@SuperDude001

Superdude, your comments are probably the best comments I've received on any of my articles.

MrBlueSky:
I really love that you did this. I'm a huge "Star Wars" fan, and have often contemplated doing this same thing, as well as a Fancast for a Reboot for the only true trilogy. But, when I did the "Back to the Future," I received a great deal of comments about talk of a remake would be blasphemous, same goes for my "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie" remake.

With that said, here's my take on your Fancast:

Kodi Smit-McPhee: Great young talent, he is definitely destined for greatness.

Nicholas Hoult: Can't speak on his talent due to not seeing any of his films.

Jennifer Lawrence: Another great talent, she would do well as Queen Amidala

Tom Hardy: Only seeing him in "Inception," I have to say I wouldn't be a fan of this. Not that he did bad, I just don't see the Eames performance working for Obi-Wan.

Viggo Mortensen: I'm not positive that he could really pull off the calm, kind, and powerful Jedi that Qui-Gon Jinn is. He kind of did it for LOTR, but he's done too many movies where he's played a crazy badass since then.

Idris Elba: Absolutely!

Tilda Swinton: Again, absolutely!

Sacha Baron Cohen: I hate Cohen. I hate Jar Jar. Seems to be a fit then, doesn’t it?

Eric Bana: I can’t imagine anyone else in the role of Darth Maul. But, if I was forced to choose, Bana would be a great contender. What about Jason Statham, I think he’d make a great Darth Maul.

Alan Rickman: There are a few actors whose mere presence will ensure my viewing of a movie, and Alan Rickman is one of them

Gary Oldman: Replace Alan Rickman with Gary Oldman in my previous statement.

Stellan Skarsgard:: Skarsgard is a great, yet underrated, actor. This role fits him better than O.J. Simpson’s glove.

Oscar Isaacs: I haven’t seen anything he’s in, so I will not speak of this choice.

Noomi Rapace: Exchange he’s for she’s in my previous statement.

This was a great FanCast, sir. The only issue I have is saying that Hayden Christensen can’t act. He happens to be my 4th favorite actor (behind Kevin Kline, Bruce Willis, and Samuel L. Jackson). Hayden Christensen played Anakin exactly how he should have been played. Before he was Darth Vader, the emotionless human/robot hybrid, he was Anakin Skywalker. He was torn between staying true to the JedI Counsel, as well as the man who was like a father to him, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Anger, confusion, and melancholy were the sentiments that drove him to the Dark Side of the Force. My friend and I were discussing this very thing yesterday. Actors are forced to bear the burden of a bad performance when the director should be blamed. If an actor’s performance is lacking, they should correct it rather than sitting around waiting for their check…
Solid FanCast, MrBlueSky…

Geez, you guys are entirely nuts! All the actors you mention would have to have been the correct age at the time of filming each movie and it just was "luck" for the actors that WERE hired that they got the roles they did. The MAIN problem with the preques is just the fact that Lucas was determined to have them filmed entirely HIS way (and why not he OWNED the story, the rights and everything else!). So, even though ALL of them appeared rather wooden in their roles even the great Samuel L. Jackson who I thought could NEVER act so tame, it was after all George Lucas' decision. I LOVED these movies because I love the overall story. I love Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader and Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan, they were absolutley terrific and certainly who I would have wanted selected! Just remember, you cannot put the entire blame on the cast and their shoulders when the real probem was George Lucas. I mean, really, who the heck in Hollywood would have started out with a movie about a kid and a pod race and made almost a billion dollars with it....really! ONLY the clout of George Lucas pulled that off!
