Miles Teller Explains How He Got A Role In FOX's Upcoming The Fantastic Four

Miles Teller (Mr. Fantastic) explains how different the audition process was for FOX's The Fantastic Four compared to other roles he had previously tried out for. He also comes clean on how long Michael B Jordan has been locked down for the role of Johnny Storm.

In an interview with Just Jared Miles Teller confirms a lot of what us at CBM have been speculating for a while. What is interesting is how easily he had gotten the role for the film, and that FOX had been on the fence about greenlighting the film until the final cast had been confirmed. Read the transcript of the interview below:

JJ: There’s a lot of hype over The Fantastic Four. What was that audition like?

Miles Teller: Yeah, I went in for a test as they call it, and I read with Mike (Michael B Jordan) and Kate (Mara) and (director Josh) Trank was there. We just kind of put it down in front of the studio and the studio gave it a thumbs up. I showed ‘em my abilities to stretch and shape shift, they were very impressed by that.

JJ: Did you audition specifically for Mr. Fantastic or did you audition for another role?

Miles Teller: Yeah. Mike had the Human Torch locked up for a while. He didn’t say anything about it, because the movie wasn’t a hundred percent a go and all that stuff. That was really the only part. I could have played The Thing but, then I’m covered in rocks. I don’t want to cover up my face, you know?

JJ: Are you excited to work with Mike again?

Miles Teller: Yeah Mike’s great. We’re going to be down in Baton Rouge, for like five months. I think we’re going to have a good time.

Sound off below on what you think. Were you surprised at how easily he had gotten the role? From one test screening?

Hopefully Fox goes the "explorers" route. Would love for the team to go on missions in the Negative Zone or outer space.

And it's funny that Fox could probably do a Civil War film before Marvel does. I hope they do just to piss off Marvel and to get them back for using Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

Marvels mediocre films don't even touch some of the abominations Fox has put out. Please don't go that route.

Can only assume the FF will be set in the First Class timeline. Fresh start.

However, little things like the small mention of Franklin Richards in X2 have me wondering what the FF are up to in the original timeline...

did you really just compare IM3 to the GL movie?

Kate Mara is seriously hot, and she has some acting skills. Hoping for the best after seeing her in House of Cards, but this role will be quite different.

All of these actors are GOOD actors, especially Miles Teller (e.g. Rabbit Hole, The Spectacular Now, Whiplash) and is good in sub-par/mediocre films (Footloose, That Awkward Moment, and probably Divergent)

AsgardianHobo I only mean in reference to how it went over with the fans. Fans had a similar response to IM3. Don't get me wrong though. Iron Man 3 is a much better film than Green Lantern lol.

I guess hardcore fans, but a movie doesn't get to #5 of all time without multiple repeat viewings from the GA. No apologies needed dude!

[frick] Teller and [frick] Trank. Ugh. I'm desperate for this movie not to get made. I'm afraid of what it'll do to the Fantastic Four and the genre at large if it does reach theaters.

Besides, these characters belong in the MCU, not the damned Mutant-verse. They'd even fit in Sony's Spider-Man universe, if the casting was good and the script wasn't a blasphemy.

Starfox - 3/21/2014, 11:49 PM
ALmight while I agree with you, I actually meant Marvel/Disney. But Yes, Fox has had plenty of "Green Lanterns". Still that doesn't mean that the new FF will be shit lol.

Where are all the Fox fanboys when you need them? (p.s. I'm not one of them.)
